Its actually talking about the rogue defense system infecting earth repeatedly. Those red crystals are an ancient alien defense system that long since destroyed their own creators

Repeated Tragedy is the song name. When you think about it ,the game continues onto the next loop after you beat the final boss ,the war never ends. I guess the pilot keep fighting until he eventually died as we ran out of credits

A local pizza shop near my childhood house had Raiden II and my friend and i would dump quarters into it everyday trying to beat it. Good times. This and Raiden 1 for the Genesis are my all time fav shooters ever!

One of the most playable Shooters of all time. I've played alot of shooters but I always seem to find time to play this. The music, the sound effects, all of this just really lets u immerse urself in the game.

Oh my God. I finally found it. I played an emulated version of this game online every day on my parents' computer for ages! I beat the whole thing then forgot about it. About a decade later I've finally found out which game it was. Been looking at different verticle-scrolling spaceship games hoping to find it and I finally did!

The way they did the soundtrack for this game reminds you that war is a terrible thing. Absolutely terrible.... Though my props do have to go to the composers, because to me, the sound track inspires hope, sadness, fear, and anger, all at once.

@@patrickyork3253 In my opinion,Raiden II can be the top of this series. It inherited Gen 1's charming 2d graphics and composed the best music ever during the whole sieries. Last to newer version like 345 , the most attractive 2d scene and classic music lost forever.

The reason I like the game because of the detail given in the game : when aircraft destroy the chunk of the destroyed aircraft will give an effect on the ground, the bomb will destroy part of the land, the shadows, and how part of enemy's vehicle destroyed but the vehicle it self still able to move or engaging

The most incredible shoot them up I ever played! I discovered it in an arcade in 1995. I immediately fell in love with it! The purple weaponry that binds in a big beam had totally absorbed me and what precision in the animations, graphics etc. compared to what I knew about consoles at that time. I liked everything! I searched for it for years and finally I found it. And this music that makes me feel eternity ... What an ecstasy !!!!!!!!! Oh how I love this game. Every time I played Raiden II, on stage 1, I always know where those enemy plane come from. And, it gets more aggressive in every other stage. Damn I missed this game so damn much!!!!

I ended up beating Raiden II during my one of my freshmen classes in college on my laptop, I sat in the front and caused half the class to get dumped on by the pop quiz at the end of class from watching me... I found out that the game just loops after you kill the final boss and that induction proofs are a cruel mistress.

I dont think so, this arcade machine uses the ym2151 fm synth chip (8 fm channels) paired with a okim6295 ADPCM chip (4 ADPCM channels), and the sega genesis used a ym2612 fm chip (6 fm channels and a single ADPCM channel) with a sn76489 PSG chip (3 square channels and a single noise channel), so the song would probably not be playable natively in a sega genesis. Also, i dont think the melody would completely fit neither.

It's the other way around. The first Touhou game came out in 97, way after Raiden was already a thing. Tons and tons of Touhou tracks have ripped off that Raiden feel
