I think this is the best hire the Raiders have had in a long time. Pete is an elite culture coach and franchise builder. I personally won't be shocked if the Raiders are division winners in a couple years. He's a bit of a unicorn in that he's a HoF level defensive coach but is also a QB whisperer. In 2010 he inherited a roster that was like the equivalent of the 2023 Panthers and got them to 7-9 and a playoff win. His teams always play their asses off and fight to the end. It's a fun ride. Yes he's old, but he's still got a lot left in the tank. If you guys get Jeanty, the fun could start sooner than later. Only catch is that he's overly loyal to assistants, so have to hope you guys nail those OC/DC hires.

Pete has gone full circle. I remember when Pete was national champion at USC and Pete told the media that Al Davis called him to congratulate him on the national title and that Al was on John McKay’s staff and asked permission to interview offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian to be HC of the Raiders. Pete had a tone in his voice that Al was out of his mind and Pete told him Lane Kiffin was the real genius behind the offense. Al took the bait and hired Kiffin and the rest is history. Pete appeared cocky and trying to hold back the laughter of selling a declining Al Davis a bill of goods on Lane Kiffin and viewing the Raider organization as a laughing stock. Some 20 years later the Raiders are still a laughing stock and Pete was kicked to the curb as a washed up old man last year by the NFL. Now the old man has something to prove and he gets the chance to do it for the organization he once mocked. Lets face it, nobody wants to be Raiders HC nor the Cowboys for the same reason-lousy front office. Pete is desperate to coach again and the Raiders are desperate for a quality coach. A perfect match at this time. Pete has done well everywhere he has coached and has a history of drafting well. I wish him well as it can’t get any worse than under Pierce and Getsy. I have just one thought why is it that When it comes to offensive linemen no one ever really gets specific out of the draft which ones to get everybody always goes outside of the offensive line. Last year we could not get third and one conversions to save our life now everyone wants to draft the next BO Jackson as if high ranking guards wont make a difference and that next to quarterback is the worst positions we have at failure. I think we should draft A QB FIRST MAYBE AND THEN DRAFT AIREONTAE ERSERY AND PUT HIM AS GUARD AND DRAFT BOOKER. THEN PICK A RB LATER FROM RJ HARVEY, HAMPTON OR 3.5 SPEED SAMPSON AND WE WILL BE GOOD. AND BRING IN GA BULLDOG MICAH MORRIS AS A UDFA GUARD/FULLBACK WHO is 6'6 335 POUNDS.

Remember that Pete went 7-9 his first two seasons in Seattle without Wilson. I've been a Seahawk fan since mid 80's when I was a kid. So I watched his entire time in Seattle very closely. His offensive mine absolutely sucks. Totally unimaginative and vanilla. He's a fantastic team builder and defensive mind. But he needs a dude that can scramble and create plays to succeed on the offense. Now hopefully Brady is having a say in the offense. That dudes and offensive genius. Brady should really be the OC if that's allowed.

I can see some of the upside hiring PC, but the downside is that the original plan A was to hire someone younger with a long term contract to build stability. Carroll will be with the Raiders for three years at the very most. Hopefully they will have a young stud coming up that Pete can groom into the plan A long term solution.

Old Pete is a good coach but by the time he rebuilds the Raiders and gets a young quarterback going he'll have to retire and then it's another rebuild and a new system for the young quarterback. To me this is a good effort to stop the bleeding but it's not really a long-term plan to ever win a Super Bowl. As always it will come down to drafting. talent matters more than anything else.

There is no excellent QB to draft where we are and the top teams are not letting go of the top 3 picks. I been afraid of us getting Wilson as QB before, more likely now. Know what? Over it. If it happens, it happens. If not then I willmjust deal with whatever happens because 2025 season is not expected to get us to playoffs. It is a rebuild. Anything more is icing on the cake. We all miss Josh Jacobs, and Pete does NOT build amazing offensive lines. So don’t think ours will dramatically improve for next few seasons. I think you are in point Carl- he will push for a great RB. The question is our new manager that will actually do the drafting & how much he goes with the desires of Pete. Everyone gets excited when we go from an unproven player that is having a lot of obvious faults and replacing him with a proven older one to stop the bleeding. Thats what just happened with Pete & AP. Pete & Mark aren’t dummies- they know building a replacement coaching system will need to be part of it. Enjoy that Pete has done this before- not just winning the big show but fixing a messed up team.

The rebuild will depend on the system the new coach use. Raiders have a number of free agents. Last season players left because they were being overpaid in free agency. Could it happen this off-season. We shall see.

Not sure how the tampering rules work exactly but let's say Pete met with Mark and they hashed out a deal but nothing was signed yet. Then Pete calls up DK and says hey, I'm going to be a head coach for a different team, interested in hooking up? DK says, "Hell yes coach get me out of here." Then Pete signs with Vegas, calls up Seattle and says, "Let's make a deal for DK, and if you aren't interested - that's fine, he's already committed to joining me next season as a free agent." All of this is theoretical of course. Just wondering if that would be explicitly against the rules or just a dirty way to go about it?

I think and hope the Raiders can trade down a couple of slots and still get Jeanty with the 1st pick. I also think Ewers in the 2nd would be the best pick. The rest of the draft can be used to build the OL, WR's corps and other roster depth. This team could turn around very quickly if this draft goes correctly. I expect an aggressive D and a conservative O and many W's along with that.
