Edward Munch's "The Scream" is considered one of the most famous paintings in the world. That is why it is also very interesting for thieves. And sure enough, some managed to steal the picture and leave the following note: "Thanks for the poor security". Will the art theft agent Charly Hill succeed in tracking down the work of art worth over a hundred million dollars?

Thank you for explaining the story or vision behind The Scream. Its not actually a figure, it simply represents the scream of the natural' world, in a way that humans can understand. I have heard the trees and the sea expressing their grief and sadness and their joy and confidence, using words but, more significantly, I could feel the emotion, which I possibly converted into words. It would be a challenge to express this in a painting, without using human forms.

As always, another compelling & concise outing by Raiders of the Lost Art/Perspective! Many Thanks & Continue Your Grand Work. Franz Marc's lost masterpiece The Tower of Blue Horses (Der Turm der blauen Pferde) 1913, would be a topic of interest, for a future episode. Or, a much neglected topic : Edvard Munch's intense photographic works.

He was born a bit too early for his style. A few more decades and his affinity for skulls and abstract morbidism would be everywhere. Yes, I know he is likely to be what started the whole "trend", but it's an interesting thought.

Thank you to the producers for providing TEXT. The various honorable commentators have accents that are difficult for me to understand. Providing text is so helpful in completing the understanding of this incredible presentation. EVERY VIDEO in all of these playlists are so much appreciated. I am sharing with everyone I know.

IMHO, I would suggest the figure is not screaming, but hearing a scream. The inscription on the first drawing seems to confirm this idea. The figure is holding his hands over his ears. He is hearing nature scream and is startled and aghast at that sound, at that angst that is part of reality, if you are open to moving beyond distractions of everyday life. I'm not an art critic, but that is how I have seen the picture since my husband pointed out that the figure has his hands over his ears. I liked learning about the vision behind the iconic image.
