Anton actually expresses anger/annoyance at the gas station owner. He even wanted to kill him for no other reason than he viewed him as a parasite.
@hardboiledfrogАй бұрын
This is what I remember. It seemed like very strong disgust, but I took it more as disgust that the old man settled for that lot. Didn't even build it himself like the father in law. Just stepped into it and kept going. Not so much that he was a parasite, but that he is just so awfully useless.

Anton wanted to kill him because the old man spotted him back in Dallas and so he asked him questions like where do you close, or at what time do you go to bed

Funniest part of the movie is the trailer home manager who tells him something about LE not being there, he presses her, and she responds with a really sassy remark. The look he gives her is so chilling, but that woman wasn't shook one bit, and he just leaves. 1:11:19 I interpreted the milk scene as him putting himself in LE's shoes to try and think about what he'd be doing, but I know that's a stretch.

When he kills the cartel members in the hotel, he steps through blood and it gets on his socks. It annoys him and he makes sure he gets no blood on him when he shoots the guy in the shower. You then see him take the bloody socks off with maybe a slight hint of disdain. Then he kills Carson and they very deliberately show him avoiding getting the blood on his shoes. Then he leaves Carla Jean and checks his boots. She ded.

Absolutely. That question had the same ring to it as 'Is water wet?'. If the guy had completely ignored him, there MAYBE would've been a chance he'd been dismissed by Chigurh. A very, very, slim chance... Or at least a coin toss moment. But he saw him. He noticed him. He saw his face. He interacted with him. And when Anton Chigurh notices you, especially if he knows you've noticed him? That is a real bad time. Case in point with the kids at the car crash - 'You never saw me?'. Kids understood the assignment (and at least made some video game money out of it!)

He's not '' evil'', he doesn't kill for no reasons. He has his own mindset and agenda. And at the end of the movie he understands he could die anytime (from an accident and not people looking for him). This character knows death is not predictable. You tried to make it sound ''Ted Bundy'' vibes lol. The only way to spend a day with a guy like that is to act stoic, like you don't give a damn about anything. He will see you as useless. But if you show emotions and that you have something to lose, he will get intrigued.
@asketillus86792 жыл бұрын
Uhhh… so murdering multiple innocents isn’t evil? You have some strange morals my guy. Doesn’t matter what his reasons are, he flips a coin and kills people based on a 50/50 chance, and that’s only if he decides they don’t completely deserve to die. He was more than willing to kill because of convenience, and that is evil. Period.
@misterboot66822 жыл бұрын
@@asketillus8679 What I'm trying to tell you is that he doesn't kill for plaisure or to be evil or for fun. He just kills to reach his goals, no matter what the goal is, just like the coin tossing. He is a psychopath. A man's grandma dies and at her funeral people thrown thousands of dollars on her coffin. He sees that. The next day he kills his grandpa. You get it? The act is evil but he doesn't do it out of an evil sentiment. He just wants the money. If you ask any psychopath do you feel evil, they say ''no but I can see why others see it as evil. I just wanted to reach my goal''. Imagine talking about my morals from a comment. Have a minimum bachelor's degree in Criminology like me then we can talk. Have a nice day.

Anton Chigurh not 'making choices' about fate is sort of a way to absolve himself of having a direct say in things. Plausible deniability, in a way. He removes himself, his personhood in a lot of ways, from the equation of fate. Everything has to be 'just right' with him. It *is* all about the principle and order of things, including fate. Killing and the gratification he gets from killing is just a perk of the job, of being this sort of arbiter of 'fate', at least fate as he rationalizes it. Describing that the way he looks at people is absolutely as y'all called it - like he's an alien removed from the human experience, looking upon it with curiosity and mild fascination, but ultimately looking at something rather absurd and meaningless. Like he's outside the human conditiion. Carla Jean really messed with his reality though. Her refusal to engage with his world view of fate and chance, forcing his hand really, is where his downward spiral began. It really threw him off his game. It makes sense that shortly after this is when he gets wrecked by that other car even though he was doing 'everything he's supposed to be doing'. Obeying traffic. Going by the light. Focusing on the road. But it's like, once he deviated (or was forced to) from his assumed trajectory as an arbiter of fate - well, that's when everything got screwed up for him. The lady at the trailer park, I'm not sure he would have killed her. In a lot of ways, that scene was the meeting of two immovable objects, where in a lot of ways, he was thwarted by someone who was bound by principle and at least something that reflects his own warped sense of integrity which he furiously respected to an extent. Carla Jean doesn't quite fit that though, she did have to die which is why he brought up the coin toss in the first place, which he didn't do with the trailer park lady. Anyway, great stuff. Anton is a chilling and fascinating character, terrifying to think that there are people out there with similar psychological makeup to him.
