I immediately thought of The Railrodder. A short film starring Buster Keaton. Thanks for posting a nice scenic trip down an old forgotten path. Great scenery.

When I was young in the '80s I watched people building their own out of bicycle type stuff and exploring old railroad tracks in either Oregon or Washington and they would go out there with everything including camping gear shovels pics and chainsaws and come alongs to move obstructions purely fascinating they were in the middle of nowhere were people hadn't been in God knows how long I wish I could see that again I saw it on some kids show thanks for sharing a had fun watching it

That extra pair of inside rails on trestles, is to keep the train in line and from falling off the trestle, if should there be a derailment. Lots of people don't know this

Was just wondering this a couple days ago. Thank you! Are there extra sets of wheels on the bottom of trains or just guide bars that run by it as a safety bar/guide?

I discovered these little railway carts/karts/speeders/whateveryoucallthem only yesterday, and I'm fascinated. Yours is the first that I've seen to be battery powered and with an aluminum frame -- quiet and lightweight. Did you design and build it yourself? I'd like to know more. Please help!

Looks like lots of fun, may I ask where you got you're wheels? I've recently built one my self and the wheels that are currently on it are "crane wheels" which work but are not vary wide so they don't compensate for the out of gauge track too well.

Due to a lack of abandoned lines in my area, I often have no choice but to use active ones. However, does get a little tricky sometimes going tnrough tunnels with an oncoming train...

not on live tracks . I m guessing they were running the Vancouver island rail line that hasn't been used for 12 year plus. It's still consider not legal to do but no one coming after them. So on any railway that been abandon yes you can do this . Doing it on railway still in use is a good way to died fast. So Ron if you made a railway bike that s the fastest way to start doing this unless you ve got skills with metal.

@@wingnutbert9685 yeah but I never trust these guys. Did you build one of these and have you been out on the tracks?
@wingnutbert968511 ай бұрын
@@quevicular Fair enough, but they've got bigger fish to fry than some weirdo's go-carting on disused tracks. LOL! No build yet. Just stumbled on these things randomly on YT. Looks like good fun. I've got a welding and wood shop, so building isn't a problem. I'd be inclined to go electric or pedal or a combo for a nice quiet ride. Less attention attracted too. :D I'd access at Humpback probably. But it got me thinking of how far one could get down town. Saw some tour companies in the States doing tours with electric/pedal ones. Island Rail Corridor Foundation some give up on commuter trains and get into doing tours. Could pay for itself and rail line up keep.

2 questions: I know they are not being used but does a railroad still own those tracks? If so can they send a railroad bull after you and write you a ticket? Just wondering. Looks like fun though :)
@UltraMagaFan3 жыл бұрын
They own it unless they sold it. If they still own it yes you are still trespassing it doesn't matter if its abandoned or not but its unlikely since it is abandoned.
@j.malo-roper40502 жыл бұрын
The E&N line is owned by a non-profit called the Island Corridor Foundation, but they don't send people out to patrol the tracks as far as I'm aware. In fact, they're more interested in building walking/biking/hiking paths along the old rail line, so they'd probably just be happy to see people using the tracks.
@charlielaudico35232 жыл бұрын
In some states the railroad owns the track system! It is basically trespassing! What are they going to do! Some useless ticket! Just have fun
