Hey Andy, I've got a question, I am coming out to GR on Thursday, and while I am there, I would like to see Grand Elk, or Whatever the Orange one is, could you give me some pointers on where to go, and when they go by?

Hi MuskegonAviation! Sure, I would love to give you pointers! I use a scanner to catch Marquette Rail (orange-painted engine) and Grand Elk (Black and Yellow painted engine). The free-version scanner: m.broadcastify.com/listen/ctid/1229 Use the Grand Rapids Area Scanner, and listen for Z151 (Marquette Rail) and Z739 (Hughart Runner) with a WAMX Engine. The CSX West MI scanner also is best to hear Z151 within Grand Rapids limits and Z739 too. When you are listening on either mentioned channel: Listen for "Godfrey" and "Plaster Creek" because they are required to mention either location before/after departing. Z151 is very unpredictable at times, sometimes they arrived at the yard between 8-12pm and depart from 10-4pm. I caught Z151 today in GR at 3:20pm and heading north. railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=20

You are welcome! May I ask how long you going to be in GR? If for several hours, you can catch Y106, Z151, L303/302, M326, and maybe Z739.

MQT already ran up north. There is a massive CSX freight train coming from the west. You would need to travel to Grandville to catch this freight train. This was the report: M326-20 @ 19:12 eastward on the move & reported from the west end of Saugatuck mp CG33 - sounds like they're still putting their train back together. Grandville is mp 6.0. Best area to watch this inbound freight train is at Wilson and Franklin Ave

Plus I saw the engineer crawling around the front of the train, and the dim light was on when I went by on the highway.

@@michianarailfan Yes, they are required to run south after returning back north. These engines are stationed out of Kalamazoo. They do not run on weekends.
