Railfanning Montebello / Commerce - 8/11/15

On an early Tuesday morning, I got out of bed early and drove out to the Montebello / Commerce Metrolink Station to railfan. My main reason for heading out here this early was to catch the Metrolink action that runs through here. It was either going to have to be early morning or early evening as most of the action coincides with rush hour, plus there is no Metrolink service at this station or throughout the Riverside Line on weekends. All in all, this station is a rather action packed place to railfan as I got my first freight within minutes of arriving. Lots of freights run through here after diverging over onto the UP LA Subdivision at Pomona and the station complex is very well planned out as well. Security was also awesome when it came to me railfanning. I managed to catch nine trains within only three hours and also got some great train crews while I was here !
Train 1 : Union Pacific CLAPC-11 with C45ACCTE #8043, C45AH #8124, C45ACCTE #5425, C6044AC #7326, & C45AH #8192. Not too often do you see coal trains in SoCal !
Train 2 : Metrolink #403 with CabCar #647 & F59PH #869. Nice meet with the UP coal train !
Train 3 : Metrolink #405 with CabCar #675 & F59PHI #882. As Metrolink #405 departs, notice that two UP intermodals will wait in the siding and on track 2 until Metrolink #407 passes.
Train 4 : Metrolink #407 with CabCar #688 & MP36PH-3C #899. This train was 45 minutes late due to "UPRR Signal Issues" and "A person on the tracks". Also a deafening air release on MP36PH-3C #899 as it begins to depart. So loud that my natural instinct made my hands jump to my ears !
Train 5 : Union Pacific ZLAG3-11 with C45AH #8242, SD70ACe #8398, SD70M #4989, & C45AH #8097(DPU). The crew got a slow order to depart Los Angeles.
Train 6 : Union Pacific ILAG1-11 with C45ACCTE #7987, C40-8 #8719(NS), & SD70ACe #8568(DPU). As soon as UP ZG3LA-11 departs, the crew of this train highballs and quickly trails behind.
Train 7 : Union Pacific Power Move with 3GS21B #2751, #2728, #2716, SD70AH #8974, C45ACCTE #7794, & #7623. This set moved east to the Metrolink Montebello / Commerce Station out of the UP LA Yard and switched over to track 1, heading back into the yard. Nice conductor as well !
Train 8 : Union Pacific ILAG2-11 with C45ACCTE #7408, SD70M #5032, & ES44AH #768(CSX). Awesome engineer on this train, blasting the horn as he passes me !
Train 9 : Metrolink #409 with CabCar #669 & F59PH #865.
