Near the end of winter, I took a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. We would stay in Salt Lake for a day before heading over to Park City to ski. Our hotel just so happened to overlook the Front Runner and Union Pacific main lines, so what better way to spend the day than to railfan? Passenger trains stop at this station about every 30 minutes, almost guaranteed to meet the north or southbound counterpart. Freight trains however come every 2 or so hours before the nighttime rush hour starts. So, enjoy this video of me standing out in the 20° weather videoing the trains in both the afternoon and nighttime rush hour of the Front Runner and Union Pacific Railroad.
