Unlike some short lines, ARA doesn't really have a lot of "hiding spots", so once they were working for the day, they were easy to photograph. And a low track speed too, so not hard to get to the next crossing. Yes, they were all very kind. Friendly and willing to share info!

When we used to go there I always took a hand full of Cuban Cigars along for the steam hogger. He wasn't able to get them there in the US and they were his favourite smoke. It was also guaranteed the you rode in the steam cab all day. Great fun!

Lol, I know you're kidding, but you would be! #110 (their first diesel) is a static model on display with a platform so you can look inside and get photos of yourself, and at Curriers, during the layover, they let people go on up. Mostly kids took advantage of this opportunity. Some adults probably shouldn't have (looks like they hadn't climbed a ladder in decades) but did .
