Great video and nice crossing! The "redundant" pedestrian gates make some sense if you think about them a little: they lower with the entrance gates and thus help prevent someone from accidentally getting trapped on the crossing.

I understand their purpose but that 4 or 5 second time frame isn't a huge difference. Plus this isn't like Europe or Australia where one can actually be trapped on a crossing. It is easy to walk around the exit gate (or go under it) and there is plenty of space between the gate and the track gauge to wait if that isn't an option. Given that I don't believe them to be worth the tens of thousands of dollars each, especially given the low pedestrian volume.
