Railroad Crossing Tour

Check out this FEC railroad crossing tour in East 4th Avenue at Hialeah, Florida. This crossing is equipped with cantilevers and pedestrian crossing gates and bells and LED signals on both sides. It is just a few miles away from the FEC Hialeah Yard in Miami Springs and even closer to the Iris interlocking where the FEC and CSX meet in Miami. There you have all sorts of trains from Tri Rail to Amtrak and even CSX freight. This crossing is located right underneath the Metro Rail too!

This Crossing is my CHILDHOOD!!! I used to cross the FEC here every Saturday to visit my grandma. Cool little story, one time back in 'round 2013-14 I caught two rock trains at the same time! I got video of it, but I gotta figure out how to transfer it. Excellent Video! :D

Excellent tour as always! What really fascinates me is the number of components from different manufacturers, MI cantilever, Rico lights, WC Hayes gate mechanism, Progress Rail signal base, etc. In CZ, the whole crossing is usually supplied by one company. You were crossing the street along the tracks almost like a real train! Next time, bring a train horn with you!

Another good tour, Roly! CSX would often use Safetran lights on their signal installations, and their visors are the squared-off ones you mention in the video. Interestingly enough, CSX has been starting to use WC Hayes lights on some of their newest signal installations.

Yep, the new lights are from WC Hayes with WC Hayes visors that have the rounded off look like the ones on the signals here.

Thanks for the tour roly! This crossing reminds me of a lot of crossings here in Southern California. Most of the crossings here have wch equipment. I have seen a lot of other ones like Harmon, MI, safetran, raco. I have also seen a us&s teardrop bell but it was in a abandoned track and I don’t know if it is there anymore. I know this is getting too long but anyways good video and keep it up

RailROL82 oh yeah I remember seeing a teardrop at some attorney’s office. Yeah it’s a odd place but I guess they must be a railfan. He had a whole railroad crossing in front of his office gate less and had a teardrop. I just went by there the other day

Can you do a tour of FL-953 east of the airport? It has these weird things on top of the cantilever that I've never seen before. If you do, be careful, the road looks very busy.

RailROL82 I got good news that out of service shortline railroad by my house I filmed is gonna be back in service! I don't know when it will I'll have to wait and see I'll make a update video on it

RailROL82. Mechanical but they are getting weaker 6 ave has the louder ones, so I see the others being upgraded in a few months.
