I just moved to KC, so this was a terrific intro to KCS trains! Thanks for sharing!

KCS was one of the coolest yet underrated railroads of this era. Such a variety of power, no wide cabs, great horns, and gyralights. What’s not to love?

"great horns" -- unlike the Gateway Western, whose horns sound like they just gave kazoos to the engineer and conductor. 4:50.

Ah, I was conductor out of Pittsburg, KS., when this was shot, will definitely give this a view.

8:45 Weird to see a BN with flashing ditch lights 9:54 Amazing RS5T sound 17:41 WRRS mechanical bell. (Wishbone gate too!) One thing I love about most footage pre-2000 is the number of mechanical bells still in use Great stuff from about 33:57 to the end

I remember hanging out around neosho taking pictures almost a year and a half later. Fortunately I was there when they ran the last of the manned Helpers at Neosho.

alot of these places dont look like this anymore, and most of the power you see on trains is retired or scrapped. What a load of change.
