The last time I visited Barry Waterfront the track was still in situ, although there were nontrains running. I had a coffee adjacent to the platform. Has it now been lifted?

Hi Mike. I know I've asked this before, but is there any new updates on the future of the Barry Tourist Railway? Is it likely to return in some form? I know TfW are now using the depot shed. I remember catching thise 1st gen DMUs to Cardiff from Merthyr Tydfil in the 1970s. They were far more comfortable than the 2nd gen units (especially the Pacers!) IMO. AND you had a great view if the driver had left his blind open, both from the front and rear. Had the Vale of Glam line re-opened to passenger traffic by 2004, or was it still freight only?

The "Barry Tourist Railway" and it's group of many volunteers disbanded when TfW took over. The area is locked closed and has security 24 hours. However the shed on the Island is still used to repair/maintain some steam locos. What happens when TfW move out is anybodies guess.

When there was a railway there, how many used it. Not enough to keep it open.

I was a volunteer for many years; not enough enthusiasts paid for a ride or even spent money in the cafe. Also they took all photos from the roadside on the bridge etc. We were spending a fortune on coal, fuel etc.

Yes, with Cardiff only just up the road from Barry, and due to its mainline connection, it's a shame it wasn't better supported.

That’s a lovely DMU. The all over green one I mean.
