RailsConf 2015 - React.js on Rails

React is the best way to bring interactive UIs to your Rails apps. But using React.js on Rails can be hard. NPM libraries are difficult to include, JSX seems nonsensical, and “can we still use CoffeeScript?”
There’s not one obvious path for working with React.js on Rails. In this talk, we’ll review the sordid past of Rails and JavaScript, explore the complementarity of React and Rails, and navigate the woes of integrating with NPM. We’ll discover why React is a natural fit for Rails today and how to make Rails love React in the future.

not clear what they do with rails-assets. Can you be more clear about it? Also, what are the things about webpack ? Are you using it with rails stack as well? if so, would love to know the flow

Roman Storm Hey Roman. We're using rails-assets to load projects like Alt, and moment.js directly from Bower. rails-assets examines the package.json and terns the module into a Gem. We found browserify-rails to be VERY slow and we had a lot of trouble getting a consistent webpack setup across our 6 apps (some of which are 8+ years old).
