Contrary to what's portrayed on screen the Germans didn't use Submachine Guns in large numbers during World War II and were only given to squad leaders and officers etc.

In Where eagles dare we can see some soldiers with kar 98 (helicopter landing for example or when nazis shoots on the cable car), the fights where we See most of mp40's are cqb (castle) or including security forces (airport) so not so disturbing most have mp40's
