Smashing footage on these ol vids. Thanks for posting up. The ol T9, the loveliest engine I’ve ever driven n fired. Effortless & the ride was as smooth as silk. That coming from someone who always put the unconverted west country’s in first place. The ol T9 had the edge! 😃

Fantastic, particularly so with Pat Whitehouse's commentary. Enjoyed this so much.

This is all new to me and very welcome. I saw all the original Roundabout programmes when they came out and fondly thought that was it. Coincidentally, I knew Pat Whitehouse after a fashion. I used to appear before him when he was a magistrate in Birmingham in the 1980s. It was inadviseable to cross him and he was something of a disciplinarian. However, since he was effectively one of my boyhood heroes, I had no trouble in performing all he bowing and scraping which was expected.

One presumes as an advocate, not as a defendant?😄

@@SWRural-fk2ub One presumes correctly but I don't remember that Mr. Whitehouse drew any distinction between the two!

0.37.00 (roughly) Pat gets the name of the summit of the Mendips climb wrong here. It was not Midsomer Norton but Masbury, right at the summit of the Mendips, before the descent to Shepton Mallet, going south.

I am also an S&D devotee and he also seemed to be saying that it was up to Shepton Mallet whereas of course it was down to Evercreech from Bath. But his commentary seems to have been done in the same year he died, so we will give him some latitude.

Re.Brighton Belle - actually there were several Pullman trains out of London at the time.

Compulsory watching, especially the A.C.E. clips. Only just learnt why some Pullman cars (the Brighton Belle examples) had names whilst others just numbers!
