Rain Light Sensor Gel pad Replace

In this video I will replace the gel pad from the rain and light sensor, the old one has deteriorated and has blurred and because of this, the automatic wiping system doesn't work at all I used a 2-part liquid gel from Saint Gobain Autover code 9201138072 . the original BMW pad has the code: 61 35 9 248 398 .

thanks for explaining why the gel is needed. I had to remove a bubbled gel pad and installed the lens directly to the glass, but still could not get the RLS calibrated. I'll install the gel pad now. Thanks very much.

Hi and thanks for the info. I thought my sensor was bad or there was an electrical issue with my X6. I saw the gel leaking down the windscreen over a few days and just thought it was the glue that sticks the review mirror. I was way off. I know realize what is wrong. Thanks again.

Nice video! I think I am having this problem with my 2020 G07 (X7) built 12/19. Under 5 years old at time of this comment, July 2024, and the adhesive around my rain sensor looks more cloudy like you showed at the beginning, instead of pitch black like your new gel layer shown at the end. My symptoms are: when using the Auto setting on the wipers, the light will turn on and off every few seconds - also showing "auto wipers malfunction" on the dash. Additionally, the wipers will activate on their own even if there is no rain while set to Auto. My error codes, according to Carly scanner, are: 8041BF "Signal from rain sensor is implausible" and 804487 "Rain sensor not calibrated to the windscreen." I do not believe the windscreen has ever been replaced- it looks like a 4-5 year old windshield with typical signs of wear and the typical BMW factory logos on it. I could be wrong. It's also likely the factory adhesive has prematurely failed, as my factory sharkfin antenna adhesive has also prematurely failed. If that is the case, BMW really needs to step up their glue game! 😅 I will check into this fix and report back with any updates. Thanks!

You need to check wiring, supply and CAN , need to check if the sensor is the corect part number ..
