rain meadow is the perfect rain world mod

for anyone here that's going to play rain meadow, a lot of meadow servers enjoy travelling in groups of at least 3! the symbols can be used in combinations to convey a message. for example, at 3:14, the orange lizard is likely asking if the recorder would like to travel with them and the other slugcat. the four circle symbol, for most, is interpreted as "family" or "group", the dashes and circle is "travel" and the third one is a question mark. Other common usages is the mechanical symbol and the backwards F in a square together to mean iterator, the exclamation point and smile emote to indicate cheering someone on, the X for no/ check mark for yes, etc. etc. a symbol of note would be the symbol on the fifth column, bottom row- that's a symbol for the hub! if you press pause you have a choice to go to outskirts or a hub, which teleports you to one room of your region- typically the most recognizable one or the one which connects to the most points in the region. as a note, though, there's no hubs in Outer Expanse or Submerged Superstructure as of 1.1.0 i like rain meadow :]

I hadn't heard about this game before, so I checked the steam page and I very much see the inspiration for Rain Meadow. I heard of Shelter, but not Meadow. Steamcharts shows a player count in the single digits, which is always sad to see for a game intended for multiplayer.

Every once in a while there's an update or two that brings at least enough players back for one full server. Doesn't usually last more than a few days though...

Once you get all the skins you want for the animals you like the main mechanic of the game is over which, sadly tanks the replayability. (Unless you go for the super grindy collector achievements, no thanks personally) It needed a couple more things to do or repurpose the monoliths once the player unlocks everything 😔

Hey I was the Golden Red Lizard! I'm pretty sure we were on a journey to the void sea originally but I honestly don't remember. I'm also pretty sure the group didn't look that big on my end(I've noticed I sometimes just don't get people showing up?) but its good to know so many people joined us! That little corner pipe we got stuck in I actually had to use devtools w key to free myself from(and even then it was pain), so I don't think the white lizard could have ended up following us without it

yup it's great for socializing since there's always a good amount of people there! i swap to emptier lobbies when i want to find collectibles but i've also been having fun greeting people in big lobbies like that one

combat isn't possible in rain meadow (meadow mode at least, there's an arena mode but i haven't played it) so thankfully slugcats are safe from the wrath of hungry lizors here. i can imagine meadow mode but with combat would be very chaotic haha

it's always bothered me how consoles don't have any mod support. i feel like it's something that should be included in future console generations. an active modding community can increase a game's lifespan and replayability SO MUCH, console players deserve to be able to play them too.

Exactly! I'm stuck with always bringing friends over when playing Rain World. They don't even care for it that much, so it's usually singleplayer for me. Very jealous of PC players.

Doubt anybody knows this game but it's fandom was VERY small, in fact a lot smaller than this, makes me think that if the game "Badlands 2" by Frog mind had a level editor and was put on steam originally, I'm sure it'd have a chance.

There's plenty of mods that work without anyone else in a lobby having the same mods. Everything that's client-sided ( Inventory mod, simplified moveset), most custom SlugCats, etc. In fact, the only mod that I've found so far that doesn't work is Revivify, which requires another player to have it for it to revive them. So not even everyone has to have it, just you and your friend.

across the world there are these gold diamond things that look like the things you would normally see in the game that give u arena unlocks/etc, except instead these give you points towards unlocking a creature. red gives you points towards unlocking emotes and blue is for skins. they're way easier to find in emptier lobbies bc i guess they have a cooldown when someone finds them which makes populated servers almost empty of them most of the time. so i suggest exploring around in less active lobbies for a while if u want to get the collectables quickly. or servers with maybe 10 or 15 people if you want the chance of finding people to explore with because it's more fun that way. just don't expect outskirts to have any collectables if there's people in the lobby haha
