I'm honestly surprised how silly everyone is. James could have easily taken Henry's coaches and taken the passengers home. And STH could have still blocked Henry in the tunnel.

I've always been confused with this story, even as a child, because I always thought that if the engines already do work in the rain, why would Henry be scared of it? Potential Explanation: Maybe they just started using paint with primer. As an engine, I would be scared if the workmen didn't apply primer and would probably do the same.

a while back i saw a version of why henry was afraid of the rain that mad it somewhat understandable. so the reason was one day he saw a tanker car all rusted over due to being left out in the rain and it greatly terrifed henry.
