***** In my opinion, I feel that neon colours make everything look artificial. I enjoy attention to detail in dark rides. That's just my opinion though.

I remembered this being a cool ride, but we did so much on that trip that it fell through the memory cracks. I found only a single photo of the exterior. Thank you for posting this.

How many audio recordings did they have playing at the same time? Maybe it doesn't sound this way in person, but through the video it sounded like a hundred radios all on and tuned to different stations. The ride was beautiful but the sound... ugh!!!

As a career imagineer, all I can say is this: Rainbow Bandits is a perfect example of what happens when someone tries to "do Disney" without being careful to observe the lessons of subtlety Walt's legacy clearly teaches. This ride system is quite nice, but the content and execution of the ride itself is lackluster and pedestrian. It does get worse than this - do a search on KZbin for the new Dubai theme park dark rides, which throw many millions of dollars per example at conceptual vacuums. Those who criticize Disney should be aware that examples like this only serve to show the strength of the years of preparation and analysis the company throws at a project result in a kind of 'show magic' that is totally lacking in this attraction and the fiascos of the Dubai theme park.

Well, the plot was very well laid out during the ride, however some things in there were very tricky and hard to pick up on. So the story begins in a kingdom that is a bunch of swirly colors and the animals there are all bi-pedal. all of a sudden a little blue person with a swirly face comes up and the colors of the kingdom disappear. A few if the tricky things are that the gondolas are high suspended hot air balloons. These hot air balloons tie every thing to gather to show that the people who made this were really high. JK XD @_@

A Japanese riff out of an Oz book, using familiar characters with some new and appealing anime-style designs. Lots of color and detail and a big pile of music, dialogue and sound FX. For the most part it's clever and fun in design but suffers from 'Small World' Envy. Still, this is far and away a huge jump in quality and interest from the earliest dark rides at Disneyland, such as 'Snow White'.
@CarolineNiggAyaLee-Janet3 жыл бұрын
it’s quite impressive because this park is located in the country side, it’s not even in the mainland of Japan. So most Japanese don’t even know this place exists...

Isn't this the same system as in The Efteling? Droomvlucht?
@Wig49 жыл бұрын
Joshua Baruch THIS system is plain-simple, chained straightforward. The Efteling Droomvlucht system is quite complicated ! Also suspended, yes. But it's a suspended omnimover tech. It turns to viewing angles, climbs and descends, just like Disney HM doombuggies do. But doombuggies are chained (like THIS ride in video, constant speed). In Droomvlucht the gondolas are individually motorised, computer controlled, and accellerate / slow down according to scene sections, plus at the end has the spiral semi-roller-coaster fun. Droomvlucht has, technically, one of the most complicated dark-ride systems in existence.

Peter Pan's Flight
@Wig49 жыл бұрын
+157juanse Technically speaking, the Peter Pan's flight is a "flat ride". Track is on constant horizontal plane. However, the magic works much better because there is light on the story telling scenes only. (99,5% blackness above and around) You've got the illusion of rising and descending, by scale change of the scenes. (Perspective illusion) The cost to build Peter Pan's flight, must be a futile fraction, of the cost to build Rainbow Bandits ! (Even when counting 'per travel minute' - the first version on 'crisis budget', the follow up versions ;WDW-Tokyo-Paris..; on more comfortable budget) Even if Disney is often seen as "big capital spender", with Peter Pan they showed (early !!!...) genius in building a make believe masterpiece, on total tiebelt budget !!

Nice ride. But...Nothing beats Disney. Why? Because Disney has storylines for their characters. A long history of nostalgia. There are a lot of imitations but only one Walt Disney. If you can get Disney out of your mind, this ride is great. But There is something about that Disney Magic that makes you feel good.

woow so much effort was put into this!!! I saw many problems with it though.. the main thing being most of the scenes were monochromatic (like the pink.. scene..) and made it very boring.. as well as the same tune being played that isn't as catchy as "its a small world" made it worse. I'm sure they both had a MAJOR part in the story, but without being able to understand it, the monochromatic scenes just make my eyes hurt from trying to see everything.. But the giant animatronics made my jaw drop!! WOWWW.
@themeparkreview10 жыл бұрын
I thought the storyline had something to do with the bad guys stealing the colors from the different areas and our heroes trying to capture them to get them back. That's why the ride starts out in full color, and then gets less and less, and finally by the end of if, after the bad guy is captured, all the color is bright and restored again! The ride is called "Rainbow Bandits" so to me that makes sense.
@mdragonflame10 жыл бұрын
yeah I thought that was why. Even so it still had the same effects for me watching it o.e great ride anywya.
@Wig49 жыл бұрын
+Marina Dragonflame Every country has it's own set of highly popular (TV-)stories, unknown in other countries. You're not going to rebuild the "story" from ignorance of the storyline, isn't it ? ... lol So, lets all stop commenting on things "we don't know" ... Greets.
@mdragonflame9 жыл бұрын
Wig4 I'm not sure what you mean by your comment on this hmm.. almost two year old comment. But I was just addressing the strengths and weaknesses of this ride artistically. If I remember correctly the story seemed interesting and all, I was just commenting on how the colors and themes could have portrayed the story better. Maybe you should take your own advice and provide something constructive to the discussion, artistically instead of attacking my well intended critique. Sorry for the eye sore, though ;3
@Wig49 жыл бұрын
+Marina Dragonflame That's exactly my point : without knowledge about content, we all DO bring too often "well intended but nevertheless useless" critique... So that's why I very clearly wrote : (Quote) < So, lets all stop commenting on things "we don't know" > >> 'ALL', and 'WE' .. were the words I used intentionally. We "all" should learn that. (I aggree fully on the weak music score, however, and I would advice ride developers to avoid carefully so much light "escaping" to ugly machinery ceilings, it breaks down the full immersion, tech should never be seen..) (by the way : age of comment is not of importance.. ;-) ) Cheers
