I'm more of a psychological horror fan than actual horror stuff, I tend to skim through the gore and read the internal drama and conflict, and so I like the fanfic of Pegasus Device more than Rainbow Factory, because we also get the perspective of the workers, the "villains" in this situation. While in RF we get only bits and pieces of it because it's from Scootaloo's perspective.

Coming back to the concept of Rainbow Factory, it's literally eugenics. Killing those that fail the flight test, it's ableist rhetoric. This song puts it pretty well into perspective, the only way those "failures" can help fuel success for their species is to be killed. That is very basic eugenics. I'm not saying the story or song itself is ableist, just that it uses the concept of eugenics for horror. I do wish Rainbow Factory would've leaned more into that, and kept Scootaloo either flightless or not very good at flying or having to use an aid in order to fly(though it probably wouldn't be invented by a pegasus in the Rainbow Factory universe. I also think the choice of how to handle her condition should be up to Scootaloo within the story as well.)
