Brilliant insight into fishing rainbow lake. I still cant get my head round fishing at hundred and fifty yards round islands and sunken trees for any fish let alone 70 plus pounders . Still i am old school and dont even use baitboats . But carry on doing what you believe in and once again excellent blog. Looking forward to seeing more vlogs from you cheers and stay safe out in the water .

can you explain the hooks set up down the channel?? I can't get my head round if the fish bolts the wrong way ie away from you.. how you any chance of getting in the boat, unhooking your line from the hooks and getting to the fish before you lose it?? great vid and great catch! well done!

It is something you learn James. The key is to place your last bank stick in an area clear of snags. So long as you go out in the boat with a tight line you can contain the fish within this area. Dont rush and take your time. You can flip your line out of the guides as you pass them but once you get to the last one you have to be prepared for a battle. The fish will head for the snags so it's you and the reverse of your motor that hopefully stops it.

I feel like I need to say something because of the effort that went into making video. I am pretty new the whole you tube blog thing. I watched a lee morriss video about rainbow and was stunned by it and the lengths you have to go to out there. I doubt I will ever get the chance to fish there so really appreciate "normal anglers" fishing hi profile venues, type videos and putting them selves out there for the trolls and knockers to do their thing ,how ever, spending six months planning and having to go to the shops on a Monday or Tuesday for supplies ……..leaving a rod 24hrs after thinking it needs a new hookbait doesn't seem like max effort for such an opportunity. I dont want to knock mark as he seems like a lovely man and I will look at his other vlogs, blogs and be sorry for sounding a bit negative, im sure watching back he will be kicking himself for some of his actions. probably not the best 3.5 grand he has ever spent.look forward to watching his other films. I have tried doing it and you feel such a twonk that you don't bother. thankyou to all blog vogers out there.

Thanks for your comment mate. Unless you experience the whole 'Rainbow' experience it's hard to describe what it entails. Repositioning your rods on there isn't like just reeling in and casting like we do here in the UK, it has to be planned and methodical. When you are sharing a swim with someone else you have to take there chances into consideration to. Going out in the boat between other lines that are running along the surface can be very tricky especially when the wind gets up. I have no regrets on any of my angling during the week which resulted in a fish when many were struggling. Getting off the lake is a good reset button, as I've said, you are not recasting all the time so once the rods are out they get left, some guys leave their rods out for 5-7days at a time so it Is quite easy to become stir crazy. Not sure where you got the £3.5k figure from, my wife would kill me if I'd spent that much. Lol Like I say on all my vlogs, go out there, enjoy yourself And remember, it's only fishing. Hope you like my other vids? 👍👍

thank you for taking the time to comment Mark. I know how hard boat work can be. I have spent way too long getting blown over my spots and skimming around in flatbottomed boats, I certainly brings on the swearing! I admire your determination. I did a theoretical shopping list for such a trip and taking into account getting braid, big leads electric motor, echo sounder etc and a weeks van hire at 600 including extra charge for going onto the continent I was well over 3500! scary. My wife would kill me too! my modest trips to champagne area quickly add up to 1500 plus without upgrading rods and reels. Look forward to seeing your other videos and thanks again for putting your experiences out there for others to enjoy.
