I love your ideas, and as a yarn crochet/knitter, I think you are getting very close to the real stitches. I am starting to see/relate grabbing a new band and reclaiming as where a yarn pattern would call for a yarn over. It's still a little fuzzy, but I think it's getting clearer in my head. Your directions, from a teacher's point-of-view, are excellent and clear and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing your ideas and creations!

Oh my goodness this is too cute!!!! My first attempt did not come out well so I'm going to keep trying till I get it right!!! I do think u show an accurate substitute for the double and half double !!! Amazing !!!!

Shandie Hender LOL of that I have no doubt. There seems to be two different ways of crocheting with bands, the way I do my eyeball, which appears to be a larger stitch, and that one is nice and easy to do double and treble crochets with. Then there's the stitch I tend to use more often now which is a smaller, tighter stitch and I feel that it gives a better result when making something from a crochet pattern (ie. when I made the Christmas pudding) - that's the way i've been beating my brain about how to do triples and doubles and half doubles lol so this is what i've come up with, i'll have to try it out on a "real " crochet pattern and not something i've just come up with myself and see how it works :)

Amie Gamer Amie, the magic ring is done on the loom to make it easier for beginners, people who are familiar with the technique do not need to use a loom or any other device to help them. I do it that way to assist but perhaps I shouldn't be doing that in your opinion.

you dont make it on a hook you make it on a loom board, so do not use that name

cherry pie99 I guess you didn't watch past the first couple of minutes. The magic ring is made using a loom peg to make it easier for beginners. People who know how to make the magic ring on their hook do so. This IS a hook only design other than the part that I make easier for newbies.
