Tesla batteries can explode in certain circumstances, such as in a crash or due to user error. The phenomena that causes this is called a chain reaction called thermal runaway, which occurs when a battery overheats. This overheating is caused from electric friction which can be found from overcharging, rubbing your sock feet across carpet and touching the wrong spot on the battery, or a large, partially metal object compressing on itself with force.

It is also true that any battery can explode under the right circumstances. Though I think the examples you mention are about lithium magnesium batteries not lithium iron which is what all EVs use.

I'm sorry to everyone but electric cars are not better for the environment. Because of lithium batteries. If you drive an electric car because you like the features cool I have no problem, but I'd yoy say they are better for the environment please educate yourself on the lithium mining practices
