We just bought an acre a couple of blocks away from Rainbow Springs across from 40W. Wanted to check out the neighborhood! Thanks! Just for future reference...NEVER paddle under trees in wet areas of FL you can end up with a water moccasin falling on your head!

Thank you for a great video. Wish you had mentioned NO DISPOSABLE ITEMS are allowed on Rainbow River. It is patrolled and there are fines. Water, snacks, and other food must be in reusable containers. No paper products or throw away straws. It's why the river is so clear and clean.

Great job, Tom & Cindy! This video had wonderful flow from start to finish. The campsites look spacious, well-spaced and private! We paddled the Rainbow River ourselves way back in the late 1990s or early 2000s from the head springs downstream for a number of miles, and have fond memories of that day. Thanks for bringing those memories back! The clarity of the water and the colors underwater are absolutely remarkable.

Awww still one of my favorites and so glad I live 10 min away! Loved your perspective and footage! The whole River is incredible and some great little secret passageways/spots that are so clear you can't tell you are even in water! Did y'all see any gators while staying there? On quieter days you can usually see them sunning on logs on the banks by all the turtles. Crazy to think they actually had a zoo there for years back in the day!

Rainbow is really something, it seems clearer than the other springs we have filmed. So nice that you live so close by! Are you all in Ocala?
@Adventureswithbecky
@Adventureswithbecky 4 жыл бұрын
@@CampTravelExplore no we are in Citrus Springs it sits right between Dunnellon and Crystal River. We are in Ocala a lot I prefer it to Gainesville. In the hot months we stick more to springs because we are used to cold water coming from San Diego. In the fall, winter and spring we hit up the beaches more. We did just go to Fort De Soto yesterday and that was absolutely gorgeous! Much cooler than a lot of the other beaches. Maybe 80 which is doable for us but high 80's and 90's just isn't refreshing in this FL heat lol.

I’ve been to this spring multiple times and out of literally 14 times I’ve been there I’ve seen an alligator twice and they were large. I told the people at the kayak renting area and they have people that catch the gators and put them somewhere else that’s what they told me. But it’s true gators usually like murkier warmer water and probably less noisy areas full of humans too.

We were jus there in August and that is not what the swimming area looked like. The water was over 6 feet at the most shallow, off the deck they installed. It also was less than half that size. I wonder if they had to change the size or location of the main swimming area. It was not that close to the more shallow area. That area was packed with adults and young kids trying to learn to swim. It was very disheartening, we had company and heard such good things about Rainbow Springs that we went to swim. I'm the only one that got in. I'd love to find out an update on the swimming area.

I am looking to stay here shortly. I came across something I did not expect that I need to look into a bit though. I have a 4 person Tube 110 inches across. Now the entrance point of tubing is not controlled by the park and tubes over 60 inches are not allowed at the start point so it looks like I am buying a different set of tubes with a cooler that is within the range that can be connected. It just guts me that I can not use the other one. I also will ask you here, I understand there is canoe launch sites up river but I just heard a person can launch within the state park. Can I launch within the state park itself? I rather not use a area out of the park.

@@CampTravelExplore we are planning a three week camping vacation to Florida in January and we are in research mode. No one ever mentions accessibility! From what I could see it looks pretty good. Did you remember if the boardwalk had a ramp? We are accustomed to making do in most places but sand and wheelchairs don't mix well. So hiking trails can be a bit tricky.

I was just there, there is a ramp leading to submerged stairs that should be accessible by wheel chair into the water. All trails to the swimming area and the nature trails are paved and easily managed. It is a beautiful place, go for it!

You have to drive over from the campground, as the campground is separated from the springs a couple of miles. You can kayak up to the springs from the campground though!

Gators dont hang out in the swimming area, they are usually upstream in the river.

We have filmed fifteen springs now and our experience is that gators are never at the spring-head because its too cold, they tend to stay up river where its warmer!! The springs are so great, hope you get out there and check them out!!
