Rainbow Succulent Soap | RAINBOW EXTRAVAGANZA 2020 | MO River Soap

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Rainbow Extravaganza for 2020! In this video, I'm making our Rainbow Succulent Soap. This is only the second time I've made this soap and it's the first time to join in on the Rainbow Extravaganza! The previous version was scented in a strong green/natural scent and due to feedback to make a fruity version, this soap is scented in a new fragrance. This soap is scented in our Mango Milk fragrance which you may recognize from our Mango Milk Sea Salt Soaps. It's fruity but still a bit green and fresh with notes of mango nectar, sun-kissed citrus, salty beach lily, and night blooming jasmine.
I'm only making one video per soap for this Rainbow Extravaganza. Some will be long and chatty like this one but most will be short and sweet. Thanks for watching!

Why doesn’t your video have a recipe and supply list? This video is not a tutorial.
How do I get started in soapmaking? Start off by researching. Educate and then experiment. Be sure to follow all proper safety precautions. A great starting place is the beginner cold process soapmaking series by SoapQueenTV here on KZbin. You can then purchase all the supplies you need at Bramble Berry. Lovin Soap Studio also has a beginner series on KZbin.
Why don't you share your cold process soap recipe? Our recipe is proprietary. We are contractually obligated to keep our recipe a secret. I do occasionally share a test recipe. I highly recommend Bramble Berry, Lovin' Soap, and The Nerdy Farm Wife for free recipes. Those resources are a great starting point and then you can tweak your favorite recipe to make it your own.
Where do you buy your oils? We purchase our oils in bulk at Soapers Choice, Wholesale Supplies Plus, and Sam's Club.
Where did you buy your molds? My husband builds all my wood molds. My silicone molds are from various suppliers.
Where did you buy your soap planer? My husband built the soap planer for me.
Where did you buy your soap cutter? We purchased our soap cutter at Bud’s Woodshop.
Where did you buy your soap loaf splitter? Our loaf splitter was purchased from Smith Creek Studio.
Where do you buy your soaping containers? My pitchers are from School Masters and my large plastic containers are from Webstaurant Store.
Where do you buy your fragrance oils? We purchase our oils from many different suppliers. We don’t have a one-stop-shop for all of our oils. We blend the majority of the fragrances we work with.
Where do you buy your colors? We buy our colors at Bramble Berry, Nurture Soap, and Mad Micas.
Where do you buy your coconut milk? I was buying So Delicious Organic Coconut Milk on Amazon but I think you all bought them out! Ha! I now buy Native Forest Organic Coconut Milk. Please don't buy them out. I need coconut milk. lol
Where do you buy your soap boxes? We usually buy our boxes from Wholesale Supplies Plus or Elements Bath and Body.
How do you design and print your labels? I use Adobe Photoshop to design my labels. I use full sheet labels and print with our HP Laser Jet Pro printer.
Where do you buy your packaging materials? We buy our packaging materials at various suppliers including Paper Mart, ULine, Nashville Wraps, Eco Enclose, and Amazon.
Do you give classes? No, I do not offer classes. However, if you need help, leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do.
Why are the comments disabled on your older videos? Due to some very negative, hateful, and vile comments, I am no longer allowing commenting on older videos. The older videos seem to be the ones targeted. Newer videos may have approved comments for a time. I welcome decent, respectful comments.

This may be my favorite one of all. I'm so glad you share making soap with us. I watch many soap videos and I've yet to see a smoother bar of soap - no steric spots or those little bumps. Thank you Diane! We cure our soaps for a minimum of 4-6 weeks but prefer 8 weeks. Most of rainbow soaps are getting a 2-3+ month long cure because it took so long to get them made.

This may be an odd question but I have to ask. I noticed with the soap or is that make very large batches your stick lenders go very deep into it. Is there ever an issue with the liquid getting inside the stick blender. I’ve always thought that maybe if your batch was too deep it would ruin your stick blender

That's a great question. It actually has a pretty good seal and I rarely have soap get inside it. If it does, (it just happened to me yesterday so I paid extra attention), it just touches the inside plastic pieces and doesn't get into the real working bits of the blender.

Oh dear. That's no fun! Make sure you soap cool (but not 'solidify the hard oils cool'), don't use too steep of a water discount, and try to formulate a recipe with a higher ratio of liquid oils.
