Additions/corrections: 1. I think I put the wrong location in the visual for spectral glove. Sorry! It is in terra tower. I think I just messed up the footage. 2. Edited: Rainbow shells and shiny materials DO carry over to New Game+ now! However, your summons will be removed from your inventory. 3. There is another rainbow shell in viper manor where viper’s best weapon is obtained. 4. Technically, the master hammer is not available until after you beat dark serge, not after the sky dragon as I initially had said in the video. 5. Technically, there are two more powerful weapons than rainbow weapons, but they can not be brought into new game plus. 6. While recruiting Irenes is the last part of the master hammer quest you can technically MISS, you can still ruin your chance of getting the master hammer by taking the black relic from the black dragon before you complete the marbule concert. Make sure you don't visit the black dragon before completing this quest!

There's also a rainbow glove you get near the endgame in the final fortress before the dragon god that can be broken down for it's components as well. I did this for Serge and a few other people in my party the only thing is this requires multiple play throughs and NO SUMMONS OR STEALING ITEMS. So choose how you wanna get your rainbow weapons.

I never realized getting Irenes/the concert was optional. I always thought that was a mandatory part of the game.

I need to try it out on my second playthrough and see for sure, but I read on the wiki that you can do the concert to save Marbule but still skip the Black Dragon boss fight if you show up with all non-human party members. I knew about taking the relic while it's sleeping but had no idea he could just give it to you.

Beta Carrotine also can't be forged even with rainbow mats so 1. If you're a Janice stan (to each their own) then make sure you get her weapon in the tower. 2. If Janice is NOT your bff and you want to go all Mean Girls on her, you essentially get a free rainbow item if you break down her weapon. (RIP Janice) Im not sure if this is true in the remastered version but it is in the original.

You can find 20 rainbow shells in the game,the 20th one is in the Viper's mansion of another world in the armory along with the Viper's Venom chest

Great video, o would add that when clearing the spirits from marbule they only use blue elements it is easy to get to blue field and get 3 shiny dews of each battle with frog prince,

Also inside of the Dragon place when the it turns into a flying dragon Fortress when you meet those little angels that's going to be this one spot where you're climbing up there's ladders and hexagons if you go to the top and then go back down two steps into the center of the hexagon you will find a fully made rainbow weapon that you can disassemble for all the material right then and there because shiny sand and shiny leaf is pretty hard to get

I'd say the Shiny Salt and Soot are the worst, the other four colors have X Field elements but we have no Black Field or White Field to set up summons.

@@buggr for any of the light summons and dark summons is easier to use them if you fight pure light monsters who loves to use light attribute attack and also put some light attribute attacks of yourself on the first so you can easily use Light Elements same thing for dark it's easy for those two things to be summoned honest be compared to the other colors for me

A pretty easy way to beat the casino without pausing is to hold the confirm button during the spin. It will always land on the next direction going clockwise. Once you are on east try to time the button press slightly slower than holding x. I personally do it a split second after I hear the machine whirl up. I’ve been consistently beating it using this method. It’s very good because if you land on west you can hold confirm for north and than again for east then do my other method and repeat.

I always just disassemble the beta carrotine and the rainbow/spectral whatever glove you find in Terra Tower You only need two rainbow weapons since Serge gets the Mastermune, only one if you're using Glenn, so that's enough

Love the vid - but need a small (and important) correction about when you can purchase the Master Hammer: You said it can be purchased after fighting the Sky Dragon, which isn't correct. You must also have defeated Dark Serge in Fort Dragonia in order to gain access to the vendor, otherwise Marbule (Home) will just be empty after the events of Nikki's performance. Confirmed this in my current save file which is post-defeating Sky Dragon, but pre-defeating Dark Serge.

You actually have until you meet up with Karsh and Zoah in the back of the bar in Termina to complete the Marbule Quest. After beating Miguel, you can still go up to Nikki and help him do the concert.

I've tested this thoroughly for people writing faqs and walkthroughs and I was one of the gurus at the gamefaqs message boards to ask whether info was accurate. I just found out that the Pip glitch is persistent in the Remaster and that's completely killed my motivation to play this game which is so frustrating because historically, Chrono cross is one of my absolute favorite RPGs. Bookmarking this as a reminder for later.

Tentacles, please let people aware of a current BUG in the game! Tell your community about it. I was around the 2:52 of the video, I had *just defeated the dragon* moments before. But instead of leaving Marbule, I decided to enter the empty house near the entrance to rest (I was using lots of summons and with a low star count). And then the game acted as the fight never happened. Besides the key item, the demi-humans didnt ever return. I progressed with the story, but Marbule is forever stuck. Got so far as becoming Serge again... So again: I decided to sleep in the hut instead of leaving. The soundtrack changed when I woke up. To the previous infested / abandoned marbule soundtrack, but monsters were gone. The dragon was obviously no longer there. Marbule was not restored because I did not left the town right away!!! I left Marbule and most aftermath events (in the ship, the NPCs reactions, etc) happened normally. BUT MARBULE WAS NEVER RESTORED. NPCs act as it does but the town is still empty. So, please mention this terrible glitch to the Chrono Cross community. I'm trying to do that on reddit and whatnot, but barely got any attention or replies!

I have a savegame from 4 hours before. And I will try it all over again to fix my playtrough, but also will save separately and try to cause the same problem again, so I can prove it and if necessary even record my screen so I can email the Steam staff or something.

By the way the Rainbow shells do carry over to New game Plus. I just started a new game plus and 3 of the rainbow shells I had left from my previous playthrough carried over.

Absolutely not, but those weapons can’t be carried over into new game plus, so until the story makes them available, rainbow weapons are the best.

Keep a rainbow swallow to carry over. I made this mistake back in the PS1 era and kicked myself for it. I think the mastermune grants some healing though.

Forgot you must wake the Black Dragon and fight him as part of the Rainbow quest. If he stays sleep via NOT doing the Lagoonate Manta Ray Massacre to Fargo unlock level 7 element quest.

It’s a way to get the shiny materials as an alternative to using the summons. It also lets you start collecting the materials earlier than if you waited to get summons!

As a heads up, you technically only need 9 rainbow shells, to make 1 weapon, 1 armor, and 1 helm for each of your final team party members. However, rainbow helm isn't all that great, so 6 can be just fine. 5 is also good if you don't care to play New Game + as Serge won't need it. Finally, more characters can equip swords and gloves than any other weapon type. Happy farming!

Can you confirm whether they put more rainbow shells into the remaster? I feel like they had to have. I just have way too many by endgame. I was able to make 3 mails and one of every weapon type and still have some left over, and I didn't do anything crazy or go out of my way for them.

You are wrong about parts of the quest you can miss. There is another part you can also mess up with or without talking to Nikki in his dressing room. If you don't fight the black dragon and restore Marble you cannot forge anything rainbow bc you won't have the master hammer. You can skip fighting the black dragon by stealing the relic, even if you get Irene's to join so it is still possible to mess up later on by not restoring Marbule and thus not buying the master hammer.

Mastermune. Slightly lower attack, still above Stone Swallow, but yeah higher crit rate, but you should still make a Spectra Swallow anyways because you can't take Mastermune to new game+.

If you can't get rainbow weapons you should not be playing this game it's super easy crazy straightforward there are like literally 5 and PCs all around the game who referred about rainbow weapons so if somehow you missed that dialogue that's on you bro I literally one of the places you see it is a place you kind of have to go to the blacksmith in Otherworld when they were closing down his shop he refers to wanting to make rainbow weapons that should have been your first shift and then the dude on the island where the dragon stage lady is he talks about rainbow weapons and then the other dude that's inside of the cave where you beat the black dragon also talks about rainbow weapons and the lion will sell you a hammer that makes the rainbow weapons or can help you make them but it's $10,000 so be sure to save

There is too much NPCs saying pointless stuff. I did not know rainbow weapons were even in the game. Which means, they probably are not worth it. Needing a guide for something the game barely explained ruins immersion. Its like cheating, or 4th wall breaking.

You don't need Irenes, You need only Fargo. You also don't need to recruit Skelly to get shell. Just visit researcger, when Sergey turns back into himself. I checked it recently
