Raindrop Damascus Cleaver

Hey guys!
In this video I present the construction process of a damascus steel cleaver in the raindrop pattern with a handle made in Raffir. This knife is part of a three-piece set, so the first part of the forging (up to 9m 10s) will be repeated in all three videos so anyone who hasn't seen the others can understand the full process.
When I run the raindrop, I always look for organic shapes, which refer to the name of the pattern, that's why the base is a damask with a very random number of layers (scrambling joke) and I use a drill instead of matrices in the forging.
I really like cleavers because of the freedom they give us in working on their shapes, I tried to use lines that clearly marked my style in this piece.

Nesse vídeo apresento o processo construtivo de um cutelo em aço damasco no padrão raindrop com empunhadura feita em Raffir. Essa faca faz parte de um conjuto de três peças, então a primeira parte do forjamento (até 9m 10s) se repetirá nos três vídeos para que qualquer pessoa que não tenha visto os outros possa entender o processo completo.
Quando executo o raindrop sempre busco formas orgânicas, que remetam ao nome do padrão, por isso a base é um damasco com número bem aleatório de camadas (brincadeira de embaralhar) e uso broca ao invés matrizes no forjamento.
Gosto muito de cutelos por causa da liberdade que nos dão em trabalhar suas formas, procurei usar linhas que marcassem bem meu estilo nessa peça.

I absolutely agree with you. symmetrical holes cannot be called "raindrops". it's just holes :) the rain pattern should consist of randomly arranged circles of different sizes. I'm glad to see you have just such a one.

Hola, Fernando! Conheço como "fosfato de manganês". Ele é misturado com água e aquecido até 92°C. O tempo é algo em torno de 30 segundos, então resfrio com água fria e coloco mais uma vez de 30 segundos.

I didn't think it was necessary, I know the piece won't make extreme efforts. This glue is ultra strong, I already had to change a handle once, and it was very difficult. After destroying it in the hydraulic press I still had to remove the pieces of glue.

Great work. Just one word of advice... Protect your lungs. Air extraction, cowling around certain equipment, proper masks and so on. I didn't know any better back in the day and have paid the price. Please don't be the same.

А вот карбидные пленки между слоями они куда деваются? Или просто становятся тоньше? Сварка не может быть исключительно качественной без хорошего флюса только бурой,и нужна вакуумная печь ,иначе выгорает углерод ,рисунок это все что от Дамаска останется!!!!!
