I've been to this festival for many years and this year is my 11th year. I'm a local, a Sarawakian and this Rainforest World Music Festival is our pride! Good to see you ladies were there at the festival. Do come again next year, ya!

The Festival was the brainchild of two Canadian, Randy and Bob. I was involved in the first one back in the late 90s. It was small then.

In fact, the natives/tribes such as the Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, and much more still living in longhouses(wooden built) but some been modernised using bricks. But you may visit Annah Rais hotspring and Longhouse(Homestay) for more. Can contact local tour guide for more. Cheers

Well, apart from Annah Rais, may go to Serian district. Mongkos Homestay.. And around the village area, there's 3 longhouses for visits too. You may experience the differences between the modern and traditional bidayuh longhouses.

We're still living in the longhouse but yes, more of the modern style with concrete. But the concept still lives. I am originally Iban from Sarawak. I'm glad that both of you enjoyed your stays there.

If you’re going to Sibu, u should try to take a trip down the Rajang river to Kapit - it’s like the last town before wilderness.., there’s white water rafting & the most expensive fresh water fish in Malaysia (rm1k per kg..!!) - the emparau/empurau

4:07 Just to avoid any confusion, that 'tribal dance' ain't from any Sarawakian's tribes. It's look more like Salsa dance. Heck, the music they use also sound like Salsa. Anyway, thank you for visiting my state. Don't forget to visit Matang Wildlife Centre, Bau Wind Cave, Bako National Park, Cat Museum in North Kuching City Hall building. All of these places are not far from the city, under 1 hours drive. Except for Bako National Park, where you have to rent a boat to get there. Hope you girls have lots of funs. Dum Spiro Spero

AlexSDU Hi HI, everyone! I'm Farah from the Singapore School of Samba and I was one of the instructors in that video clip of the "tribal dance" workshop. I'd like to clarify that the dance we were teaching is Brazilian Samba and the style was Samba de Roda. Lol, so @AlexSDU, you were right that it was a Latin American dance style, but not salsa. Music was also traditional Samba de Roda music. Glad everyone had fun, although it WAS super hot. :)

IT is crazy hot here atm. We had to go out only at 4pm yesterday as the heat at midday was too intense. We weren't too tired but got our grab driver to head to the KFC drive through for some chicken. He was a legend!
