Currently on the rooftop of a hostel in Tokyo, beer in hand gazing out at Asakusa. Decided to put this mix on and everything seems good in life. Edit: I did upload most of the footage from my trip to my channel, but it is pretty bad quality due to my mediocre camera. Feel free to check it out though. Edit (May 2021): Been almost two years since my backpacking trip around Japan and if all things go according to plan, I will be moving to Japan sometime in the near future (once travel opens back up due to the pandemic!). This doesn't really matter, but I thought I'd share it with this chill community. Edit (September 2022): As of now my plans to move to Japan for a few years have kind of fallen through due to the pandemic, but overall still doing well in life. Pursuing software engineering as a career and eventually one day I'll visit Japan again. Just probably not moving there for an extended period of time like I originally planned. But the future is uncertain, so I guess anything could happen!

I've lived it. The grey man wouldn't talk back to you. Speaking to people you don't know in public is a very American trait. Walking in the rain *anywhere* sucks, Tokyo doesn't make that okay. Bring an umbrella. But more importantly, just because you go somewhere exotic and foreign won't change who you are or what you feel inside. Wherever you go, there YOU are.

I’ve been in love with this boy for over three and a half years and we’ve been together for three years and five months, and in our darkest times- we talk about how we plan to move to Japan in a few years. We’re going to escape from all of the pain we’ve undergone here and start anew. We’re going to listen to lofi together on the train, and cook together, and walk the city streets at night- all lit up by their neon signs. The tears just stream down my face endlessly at such a beautiful idea. I’ve been studying japanese for a little while now, and I think if I can stick to my studies and get the language down- it will make life there much easier. I can also help my love learn- so we both can focus less on communicational errors, and more on the beautiful memories we’re going to make. I am so, utterly in love. Continuing to go on was the best decision I ever made. I can’t wait for the upcoming adventures with my angel. Our future is going to be so peaceful. I believe in us. 10/19/20 Edit: Our four year anniversary is coming up this November! Still going strong!

Pellets of moisture hittin my roof, While I'm being pelted with memories of youth Think of a day before it all started changing, Becoming jaded with the process of aging Felt like back then I could see so clear, Wouldn't believe that one day you wouldn't be here And don't think for a second that I'm looking back tragic, I know that every second of the love we shared was magic I just can't understand how I'm supposed to get past it, It's heavy in my chest and I'm about to go spastic I just want a few more minutes to talk, Or drag you out for a long ass walk You were the one who would break it all down, I didn't feel it when they put you in the ground I couldn't cry it felt like a lie, But now this rain made it through my roof and it's hittin my eyes. I miss my uncle. Thanks for a beautiful mix that let me feel that for a bit.

I'll be turning 19 in a few weeks. Where did the time go? Where are my friends I used to run across the street and play with? Where are the guys I used to play basketball with? What happened to the extra time I had to waste? Where is the joy for trying new things? Where has it all gone. I've not begun to live but already feel like there is so little left to do. So little time left. I just want to be able to take another breath, and not have my chest feel heavy with everything on my mind. I want someone I can confide in without societal norms influencing their opinion of me. I just. Want to feel like I know what I'm doing again. Even if for a moment. I just want to be free. Even if for just a second. I want to feel like I belong for once. Without having to put on a mask. I may be going into a career field I enjoy. But I feel like if this fails I truly have traveled the end of the cleared path ahead of me. Where will I go from there. If I make it there, will I have people to guide me along? Or will I have to clear my own path like so many times before. I just want to feel like I have control of myself again. To do what I want to do. Not something for someone else simply because I need to, but rather for something I want to. Why is it that after being alive for going on 19 years. I feel so stretched thin. So worn out and tired. When people nearly 2 to 3 times my age seem to have everything squared away. I get that nobody really knows for sure where the road of life leads. But sometimes I wish I did. It didn't help that the school system waited till senior year to really start making me worry about a career. So much for learning algebra, calculus. And all of those courses that were. "Oh so very important." Aren't really important at all depending on the field you go into. I don't have the gpa to get Into a decent college. Because I was left behind when I was promised I wouldn't be. I saw my peers grow and flourish. While I struggled to find my legs and run after them. But kept tripping and falling. I've seen friends be happy. Find relationships. And I still feel alone and empty even though I might be in a room full I people I still feel alone. I guess my point with this is. I feel like I'm at my end. But I still have to carry on. I just don't know how much longer I'll be able to.
@saaas8773 жыл бұрын
continuing to go on was the best desicion people ever made, like you said you're still young, no one knows how life will go, but its certain that it still has a lot to offer. 100 Reasons to Keep on Living: Sunrises and sunsets. The sound of a baby’s laugh. Watching someone talk about something they’re passionate about. The first snowfall of the season. The smell of artificial watermelon. Fresh baked cookies. Shooting stars. Stepping on crunchy leaves. Splashing in puddles. Traveling the world. Your future children, pets, spouses, or friends. The feeling of being held in someone’s arms. New books by your favorite authors. Christmas lights. The one influential person in your life that has helped you through everything. The way dogs gets excited to see you when you come home from a long day of school or work. Smiles on other people’s faces. The warmth of sunshine on your skin. The smell of coffee. Sitting in a warm house or by a fire with a really good book. Decorating the Christmas tree. The chill that racks through your body when you’ve accomplished something you’re proud of. Clumsy first kisses. The warmth and smell of fresh laundry. Music. Compliments and praise. The feeling your heart has when you see your crush. The sound of good laughter. Your support system (because they would be broken and lost without you). The feeling of someone paying attention to you - the one that makes you feel safe and loved. The movies that you leave you speechless after you walk out of the theater. The feeling you get after you pee for the first time in hours. The first day of spring when you can finally see the green grass peeking out of the snow and everything feels more hopeful. Puppy kisses. Baby kisses (the open mouthed kind when they smack their lips on your cheek). Swear words and the release you feel when you say them. Trampolines. Ice cream. Stargazing. Cloud watching. Taking a shower and then sleeping in clean sheets. Receiving thoughtful gifts. “I saw this and thought of you." The feeling you get when someone you love says, “I love you." The relief you feel after crying. Sunshine. The feeling you get when someone is listening to you/giving you their full attention. Your future wedding. Your favorite candy bar. New clothes. Witty puns. Really good bread. Holding your child in your arms for the first time. Completing a milestone (aka going to college, graduating college, getting married, getting your dream job.) The kind of dreams where you wake up and can’t stop smiling. The smell before and after it rains. The sound of rain against a rooftop. The feeling you get when you’re dancing. The person (or people) that mean the most to you. Stay alive for them. Trying out new recipes. The feeling you get when your favorite song comes on the radio. The rush you get when you step onto a stage. You have to share your voice and talents and knowledge with the world because they are so valuable. Breakfast in bed. Getting a middle seat in the movie theater. Breakfast for dinner (because it’s so much better at night than in the morning). Meaningful sex. Forgiveness. Water balloon fights. Orgasms. Fireflies. Birthdays. Realizing that someone loves you. Spending the day with someone you love. Spending the whole day in bed. Eating a whole pint of your favorite ice cream. Floating in water on your back and just staring up at the sky. First dates (even the bad ones make for funny stories.) Bonfires and s'mores. Relationships where you love someone but aren’t in love with them. Coming home to someone you love. The color of autumn leaves when they change. Summer. Singing songs at the top of your lungs with your friends. Cuddling. Being wrapped up in a warm bed. Someone’s skin against yours. Holding hands. The kind of hugs when you can feel a weight being lifted off your shoulders. The kind of hug where your breath syncs with the other person’s, and you feel like the only two people in the world. Singing off key with your best friends. Road trips. Spontaneous adventures. The feeling of sand beneath your toes. The feeling when the first ocean wave rolls up and envelops your toes and ankles and knees. Thunderstorms. Your first (or hundredth) trip to Disneyland. The taste of your favorite food. The child-like feeling you get on Christmas morning. The day when everything finally goes your way. You have to be alive to see the world become a better place (because I’m so hopeful that it will).

I’m in a sentimental mood so here I go: Things aren’t going exactly the way you want, but there’s so much beauty in the world. Sitting late at night watching something on your phone while listening to the sound of rain. Getting up late in the morning after sleeping late at night, that time from 2:45-3:45 in the afternoon when everyone’s inside and it’s all peaceful? Try listening to lofi music at that time. Imagine sitting at that shop in the picture late at night, next to the man with the paper, just being in that moment? That warm corner of the sofa that’s your favourite spot because it’s always cozy? Start romanticising your life, because even when there’s pain it’s these tiny little seemingly unimportant things that’ll always give comfort
@anxiety24754 жыл бұрын
This seems like a plan kind stranger and tbh everybody should try and romantisize their life ... It sucks to so many people working and living like a machine physical and/or mental ... and they have the audacity to call it normal and our way of thinking idiotic ... Have a nice day kind stranger. I listened to this mix for the first time back in 2017 in my music class in my last year of high school, I would've never thought life would've turned out like this ever. Although life for me right now is going fine, got a good job and a nice 1 bedroom apartment, I just miss the simplicity of high school and how care free it was, no worries of bills or rent, just hanging out with friends for hours doing whatever, and although my friends are on their own paths chasing goals and living life and I'm happy for them, that year 2017 for me was just great. Talking about where we wanted to be in life back then and now some of my boys being in that spot and some of them still working to get there. Idk I'm just in my feels rn, but back to reality tmrw for me and no more vacation mode haha. Wondering if tomorrow he’ll come back still, same hour of the night, hoping the “Open” sign will be on, wondering if i’ll come back too, enjoying the company of two strangers that i know everything about, without ever knowing them.

Growing up and living are both pieces of us. Take them away and we're nothing but just a sack of atoms. After a while, they do get tiring, but we carry them on our back and they get heavier and heavier until you can't carry it anymore. That's the day you die. That's the day we all die. But if we stay alive long, we realize that we didn't even notice how amazing it was, the good times and bad times, before it's already too late. Appreciate yourself, for this does not last forever.

The first track always gets me, and today kind of rang in my head again when I put this on. I remember seeing the eclipse that day in 2017. I'd never seen a solar eclipse before, only a partial lunar eclipse. I'd just turned 20 a little over a week prior. I had to work that morning at a little local shop in my town, it's closed now sadly. Everyone was coming in to buy eclipse glasses and snacks and it was just a really happy day. I don't remember seeing a single cloud. After work I went to spend the day with my parents since it was a pretty big event. The shadows were so weirdly beautiful. The shadows of the leaves and branches of trees spread out into fans and nearly covered the whole ground, and in the sunny spots you could see your shadow with a perfect outline. It was probably one of the most magical days of my life, and other than the eclipse it was pretty normal. "May the shadow of the moon fall on a world of peace." Honestly looking back, that time was so much more peaceful than what we're going through now. 5 years later, not a considerable amount of time in an entire life, but I've seen so many things and changed so much as a person. I've lost a lot of good people along the way, some I wish I could get back, some I'd rather keep the memory of instead. Sometimes I want to go back to that day. But time doesn't stop, or go backward. You can only seize what's in front of you, or it will pass you by without a second thought. Carpe Diem.

I’m starting to find that lo-fi is so much more of a lifestyle that extends beyond the music. At least to me it’s about being in the midst of our huge complex universe and finding comfort in the simple things. Or anything niche and the obscure. In essence its our ability to connect and tune our minds on to the same frequencies, wavelengths. Though we’re out here alone, we’re still sending out signals and eagerly waiting for one in return. I’m happy I found this community. 🙂

Sometimes I’ll go to bars by myself and just soak in the ambiance, or find a hole in the wall place in a side street somewhere to grab a bite of ramen. I miss solo nights in Tokyo. I work a very fast paced intense job (which I love it) but when I take a break, I put on my headphones and sneak 15 minutes away from the day. This music keeps the calm and good vibes flowing. Time passes at various speeds, but I appreciate the slow down with these tunes👌 ghost

There is something in listening to this and doing something creative when you're upset. I remember how it was dark, only my lamp light, everybody at home was sleeping, how I was trying to cry like there was a pressure on my chest and doing my math homework while listening to calm music like this. Even sometimes when there was no music I was kind of feeling it in my head, the particular feeling when it still pains what happened recently and while doing something you keep remembering that moment. But after you cried it feels so free, it's like when you go out after heavy rain and storm, the grass smells so strange but in a good way and that whole atmosphere is relatable to this music.

Never have to rely on anybody but yourself mate. There is a difference between being lonely, and being alone. At the end of the day, it’s always you and yo mind. We always need ourselves first, before we can take on anything else.

This vid came out my freshman year of highschool. I'm a junior in college now and it's been such a rough and strange ride. Coming back to this and reflecting on a time when I was so stressed about sh*t that literally did not matter is sobering. I was always lurking in the comments on videos and relating to people that would post about love troubles. It gets better and it gets worse but regardless it will always go. I appreciate everything that has happened since I first listened to this lofi comp. I believe in you all. Now I have to go write like 4 papers in an hour. Some things just don't change. Much love xoxo.
