I like the way this type of tent hooks up to the back of the SUV, so it extends the SUV trunk. This is also a wonderful safety device because it would allow for the option to hurriedly jump into the back of the SUV and lock the SUV and jump to the driver seat and drive away, in case of emergency. I recommend Kirin practice this a few times in case a bear comes or a bad person. Of course, I hope she is always safe and parks in safe areas that are monitored by police. But I think her van set up is wonderful.

That first 7 minutes to put up that tent was the longest 7 minutes I ever experienced and it still looked crap. Thank Goodness she gave us a flash just past the 7 minutes mark . Milk 🥛

My last car camp was on Lake Superior. Had a beautiful morning paddleboard session on glass calm water. The loons and the mergansers were out along with a bald eagle. Had a bunch of trout working the shallows. Had to leave a huge agate behind as I couldn't dive deep enough to grab it. Also did a night trip with a dive light mounted to the bottom of my board. Lit the path down to the water with multicolored chem lights. The stars were really bright and had a great show with the northern lights. In the morning, there were a doe and fawn licking minerals from the dirt road. The doe came up to me and I found that she was covered in fleas. I think she had been around cows and horses in the past, and could smell the pyrethrin fly spray on my shirt. I pulled out my bottle of fly spray, and she let me spray and wipe her down. The fleas would die mid-jump and you could see them all over the sand. After I got done with her, she went and pushed the reluctant fawn over to me. It was covered too! The doe went back to licking minerals while I worked on the fawn. When I was done the fawn just started bouncing all around mom for not being eaten alive by those fleas. Pyrethrin is the only thing that will keep the stable and horse flies at bay, besides killing fleas instantly. Finally found the best sleeping arrangement for my Ford Escape. First, I made a board to deal with the gap between the rear seat and the cargo area (2'x6'x1/2" plywood custom cut). Then I used a 1 1/2" thick 2'x6' folding gym mat for a mattress with 2 wool army blankets folded on top. Then I lay down my army mountain sleeping bag on top of that. That will keep me warm and comfortable down to 15F. The other side has my 7 gal AquaTainer, cooler, food tote, clothing tote, and also my panning tub/wet gear storage.

Oh, look it's hammering down with rain again. Perfect time to go camping. Love the campsite though it looks great. The meteorologists where you live must have worked out by now that if you are going camping it is going to rain. You should try to get sponsored by desert countries. You will make a fortune if you can summon the rain gods for them.

Only one thing.. just because I like to feel home anyway.. if could be a tarpaulin as a “floor” to avoid to wear the shoes or boots.. and feel more “warm” especially in rain day (which I love the atmosphere etc.. I could image Kirin more confidence and comfortable to prepare meals and sleep stuff .. but still great car-tent ⛺️
