Love how Jason is entering in with comments now while filming. I’ve really enjoyed Garden Answers Sunday videos with Aaron and Laura’s banter with each other and this has the same feel. Thanks for filming even in the rain.

I don't know what your vision was when you bought the property, but the change is so remarkable. I'm sure when you are doing projects and think it's going to go smoothly and you run into all the debris had to be frustrating. I hope you and Jason are proud of what you have done to your beautiful space. As a reminder just look back to some of your early videos.

Monty is so smart! Janey talks about the garlic, and Monty investigates the garlic bed. Janey talks about the fragrance of the wood for the hot tub, and Monty starts sniffing the hot tub, LOL! The plants in the greenhouse look VERY happy. Any plans for a Christmas tree in the greenhouse? 🌲💐

This rain is going to be amazing for your garden . Get that compost down so all the good nutrients get into your soil.

Right when you showed the secret “not so shade” garden, I thought, “Wow, a pretty crepe Myrtle tree would be so pretty here”. It would provide the shade in the summer for your garden here, but then again, you already planted 22 trees for tree fall 😂. Anyway, your gardens are really looking nice and the crepe Myrtles near the green house will be a gorgeous wall of color.

❤Just an idea for the hibiscus, when you top dress with the compost get that entire water supply under cover. Just imagine how hot that water gets in the black pipe in the sun or hot days and then disperses onto those plants. Maybe you don’t have the same water in your lines that I do but maybe think about it or test it. Just a thought. I think the lights over the planting beds are so awesome and the vertical interest the posts add is perfect. ❤

Hi, Janey: I love the raised garden beds in your back yard. As far as winter color, I wanted to make a suggestion. What about adding two boxwoods to the outer edge of each of the beds, (inside of the beds) so they sort of "surround" the raised beds and they have the look of a cozy enclosure? It would still give you plenty of planting room for cut flowers. I think I would also top off the soil in each bed so your eye can scan over the tops of them and it's a consistent look, especially with the boxwoods on the ends. The boxwoods would glow, as they would be just under the lights you just put up. Just an idea to think about. Whatever you decide for your garden, it will be great. It's come such a long way! PS - - I have the New Dusty Miller and it's just not giving up. A beautiful plant, that I've incorporated into a few winter pots.

It would be fun to see a before and after video of your garden since you have so much footage now - it might even be a little shocking to see the total transformation! Boxwood on either side of the entrances would look pretty and add "structure" to the area. You could even add boxwood on the ends as well (so you'd end up with 4 boxwoods on the front entrance and 4 boxwood on the greenhouse side entrance). Whatever you decide, you're going to have so much fun with this area. Evening entertaining is going to be awesome with those lights.
@margaretl579Ай бұрын
I meant to say to plant these boxwood in the ground.

I guess if you have 4 entrances to this area then do two boxwoods at each entrance and one on each of the four corners. I think I'm done now!

I love your garden and I get lots of inspiration from your videos. I wanted to say i think attacking the fence one section at a time is the best idea. If you wanted a little more shade for the "Secret Not So Shady-Shade Garden" you could create a sort of an arbor from the house across to the new fence. You could make some of the new fence posts taller to support the arbor structure. How much shade you get would depend on how close together you put the boards that go across. I know you still have a lot of projects but it's an idea if you wanted create some shade for your shade garden 😊

Heeeyy Monty, Heeeyy y'all you have such a beautiful garden. I love the green house and the stained table. Absolutely film some of your videos in the green house!! 🩷 I live in your same zone and area about an hour away and we've definitely gotten a early cold and much needed rain spell (like 10 days)! Also thank you so much for putting up pix of the flowers you talk about, it's very helpful! Could you possibly do a video of gardening in small spaces. I admire your garden so much with all that space and all that you can grow. I only have a balcony/container garden to plant in.

Seeing your new posts and Hoselink solar lights made me smile AGAIN today! I’ve been planning mine for years and hope to get them done in early spring and I love the stain you chose. I love the lights you added. I have the same ones on my deck. I will be interested to hear how they work now that you are getting days of cloudy skies. I live in WI and now that the days are shorter and we have had days of gray skies the lights have not been lighting up at night. I know I could bring the solar part in and charge them, but that is so inconvenient and not a lot of fun to unplug and plug them back in when it is freezing cold and standing on a ladder.

In my veg garden area no matter where i dug i came up with bricks, so ultimately i now have raised beds..so i feel your pain. Just thinking about your shady/not shady area. I had issues this past year due to the extreme heat. I put in posts much like your raised bed posts. Then installed shade cloth. It worked well and actually looks nice. Bonus is it wasn't expensive. Can be taken down in winter if desired.
