I spent once a full summer on Koh Phi Phi. The rainy season was not an issue. Apart maybe random thunder light, passing water towers. It can be wild. The rain itself is not an issue. It's warm water and it does not last too long. I personally love the rain so it's a plus for me.

I'm going there on Late August to mid september (25th august - 14 september) I will mainly be staying in the southeast coast (koh phangan, koh tao, samui etc) and my girlfriend is worried she won't see the sun the whole time and sun bathe on the beach, what do you think haha?

You will get some sun, but you won’t be able to sit on the beach all day every day either. Husbands family is from Thailand so just fyi it is also painfully hot in summer too. If you’re able to go during winter months, then do that instead. We are only going in summer ourselves because our son is getting older and can’t take school off during the month of January anymore now that he’s entering middle school with more homework so we’re stuck visiting in summer now.

We’ve been living full time in South Thailand 3 years now and the months of August/September are the wettest months of the whole year. I’m sure you’ll get some sunshine but I also want to be honest with you. there have been times where it’s rained for 8 days straight been cloudy to 2 days and gone right back to raining. It just really depends on if the heavy rainfall starts in early or late August. When it comes to the temperature…it’s definitely not as hot as high season months but the humidity can make it feel quite similar. We make the joke that Thailand has two season: hot and dry or hot and wet 😂 With all of this said, rainy season is our favorite time of year and it’s a different kind of beautiful. However, if your gf is wanting to be on a beach sun bathing the whole time, there is a high chance she might not get that.

It depends on where you are in the country, but if you're here for a month, I can almost guarantee you will get some rain. But it's usually very heavy, and only for a couple of hours. :) How exciting! You're going to love it here. Coming to Krabi?

Maybe this is a horrible idea BUT we are planning on going to Thailand in mid October!! It's our honeymoon and I definitely pictured it as being a beach trip. I would be sad if it rained the whole time, but I knew a couple who went in October and it was beautiful!!! i also know a guy who lives up north and he loved the rainy season. thank you for this video!!

We are going end of September, fingers crossed. I do have some indoor activities laid out as I'm 'going' with the flow and we have all-inclusive so I think we'll be fine. But secretely hoping for some sunny beach days even if it's just 2/3!

I'm in Chiang Mai, and we're supposed to be getting more rain this month than in October (according to averages) and I don't think it's that bad now. If you're planning for everything to be outdoors it could be a problem, but if you can be flexible I think you're alright.

Usually August and September are the wettest months. However, if your flexible and open to a wetter Thailand experience, rainy season is our favorite time of year 😁

Hey. I really liked your video. We are planning to go to Thailand in July for 3 weeks for the first time. Our plan would be to travel around - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Koh Samui/Koh Pangan. So every spot a few days. Would you recommend to skip an area, like Krabi, and spending more time on the East coast if we wanna make sure to go to the beach for a swim? Or is there still a chance in July to have nice weather in Krabi and doing a boat trip? Thank you!

Oh how fun!!! I would say that you should still try and hit all of those spots but be flexible in when you go. July isn’t raining the whole time but if you’re planning on taking boats, the flexibility will allow you to choose the best days to go on the water. We’ve had a couple dangerous encounters on boats but only because I was rigidly attached to the schedule we had made. I would keep all of these places in your list though…especially Krabi!

I think it’s a great time to see both places! Because of the rain, it clears out a lot of the air pollution that you deal with in high season. And the crowds are significantly less when doing everything. Also, the temples don’t close because of rain, but they are more outside that inside so keep that in mind. Thankfully, outside of August/September, it’ll rain for a couple hours in a day and then go back to sunny/cloudy.

June was our favorite month to come to AoNang before we moved here! 🥰 You get beautiful days, but also some but also strong monsoon rains every few days. It’s gorgeous here both ways. You just have to keep an open mind and be okay with getting a little wet. You can also buy ponchos and umbrellas at 7-11 if you’re not about it.

Definitely! Yesterday was a perfect example of raining season, it was blue skies and sunshine until 5:30pm, rained for 30 min and then had an insane sunset hour 😁

The rain is definitely here but usually a couple hours of hard rain and then it’s just over cast…unless! There is a typhoon. Then it could be a couple days of rain in a row. 😁👍🏽

Thanks for your video, its very informativeand looks great! I am planning to go in july-august for3 weeks. I dont mind the rain, actually i like the sound of rain and also i am not very good with very bright burning sun. I went to Thailand almost 10 years ago to the south in may, we had only 1 day of rain. Are there not much tourists from Europe ? Cause people have holidays in july and august so i wonder if there are more families? Although i think it would be expensive for them to fly and because its` rainy` season i would expect less tourists then in the other months, as you said. Are there more mosquitos in those months, whats your experience on that?

Mosquitos are honestly just an unfortunate reality here no matter what season you come. Now that the country is back open after Covid, it’s definitely still busy June, July, and August, it’s just not the same as the booked-solid high season, if that makes sense. I can still find parking on the strip in low season, whereas I just avoid driving down the beach during high season. I personally love the rain, and the really heavy rain months are end of August and September. Outside of that, you’ll find a very similar experience to your trip 10 years ago. Enjoy!!

It’s a bit rainy in June but that’s actually our favorite season because the rain is gorgeous and not all the time. But when it’s sunny, the rain has cleared out all of the air pollution and it’s Cristal clean views 😁👍🏽

In our experience, you should be fine. It is rainy during that time but not consistent rain. As long as there is not a typhoon, it usually only rains for like 1 hour a day. You’re going to have a great time!

Hi! October is still a great time to come. The worst of it is over by end of September, and October usually starts off the beautiful weather here. I wouldn't worry too much about it. We have raised two babies here, and currently have an 11 month old. As long as you're either near a BTS (in Bangkok), or have a car (everywhere else), the rain won't bother you.

Of course, I’m so glad you found it helpful 😁 honestly I can’t remember about last year specifically but it really depends on when the rain starts. If it starts in May, in our experience, it’s usually finished by October. Ah also, outside of August and September, I wouldnt rely on the weather app. Unless there is a documented storm coming in it’s typically wrong 😂

Which visa are you on to live in Thailand?

There are a few different long term visas in Thailand you can get on. A few to help you on your research would be a Business visa, an ED visa, and retirement visas. Those are the most common ways foreigners stay here outside of marrying a Thai.

Oh how fun! Hope you had a great time and to answer yes and no. This last year it rained about a week and a half total throughout the month, was overcast some days and sunny in others. I think the biggest part about coming in rainy season is that it’s unpredictable. However, I will say before we moved here full time, we only came for the rainy season. The days that are perfect are gorgeous and the rain gives you respite from the heat and is a different kind of beautiful 😁 I hope this helps!

NO! Don't come in rainy season, I enjoy the peace and quiet.... As to Feb, March and April I wouldn't be calling them hazy, they are out and out polluted by smog to the point where it can be dangerous to people with breathing issues. Most of Thailand only sees the Sun as a small red ball in a dark featureless sky. A V Good video notwithstanding.

It does happen. Most people stay covered up, or use mosquito spray. There’s loads of it here. You can buy it at every 7-11.
