This is one of my favorite rock groups. They are just great.

Usually, I am more on the side of Nemophila, Asterism, Trident, Bridear, Gacharic Spin and some others, but RaS... damned, they are truly amazing. And I am now fully on board with them too. Love everything about their music and style. The songwriting is brilliant, the intrication of all musical elements (instruments and DJ stuff, multiple vocals lead and background), the rhythmic variations, and the energy on stage reminds me Gacharic Spin a lot. For the next step, you should really try "Hell or Hell?" and "Drive us crazy". But for these two, I highly recommend to find the live version with the extended intro (unfortunetaly not available on KZbin neither on their channel, but not so difficult to find), because both of them are truly EPIC and absolutely fire!!! Enjoy!

There are instrumental versions of many of their songs. The musicianship is very good indeed.

They started as a backup band of the mixed media franchise BanG Dream! for the singers who couldn't play instruments. Then they introduced with their own songs and eventually anime characters. RAS's live is always intense and captivating! There's this one live where Natsume's killing it with drum solo, followed by fiery guitar vs keyboard duo by Riko and Reo, spiced with tight DJ scratches by Risa, and ended with Raychell's mighty voice show off!

Many folks in the West don't realize just how popular the BanG Dream bands are in Japan. According to Oricon, the leading ranking service in Japan, in terms of both first-week CD single sales and overall CD album sales for all-girl bands in the Reiwa period (basically the past 3 years), BanG Dream bands were No. 1, 2 and 3. Roselia was top in both categories with RAS and Poppin' Party following. I saw RAS at Summer Sonic---they shared the bill with Band-Maid among others and more than held their own. Some B-M fans there were impressed---I was one.

I agree, very Gacharic Spin-ish feel. I have a few of their songs on my playlists. Recommend Drive Us Crazy or R.I.O.T. for a couple more songs. Live is best for full affect of Raychell’s raspy vocals.

Cool that you found RAS (not that many people know them, unfortunately). I discovered this band about 2 months ago and couldn't stop listening to them on a daily basis ever since (it's almost a bit like my BABYMETAL addiction in 2020/2021 :-). They have a buch of awesome songs (but also a couple of duds) - and like BM they should be watched live because their shows are so much fun. Their eclectic mix of styles is surely one of their major fortes. Unfortunately most of their best performances are not on KZbin but "R•I•O•T" is one to be found here. My favorite songs are "HELL! or HELL?" (great title ;-) with its superb PostRock like intro , "EXPOSE 'Burn Out!!!'" and "Unstoppable". You can find the best live shows of those tracks on Billi Billi (the Chinese KZbin) and if you're interested I can give you some links for it.

i also get some GS similarities - even more so on some of their more electronic influenced songs which I think you've yet to hear. RAS is definitely a band I have on a shortlist to check out more so thanks for this

I haven't heard a ton of their stuff, but what I have heard seems to be similar to this song. They're a tight band both vocally and instrumentally, they're all attractive, the guitarist and drummer and keyboardist are standout musicians for me (the DJ might be good as well, but I have no clue how to evaluate them), the energy is there, and I'd definitely go see them live. I'm still not 100% hooked and I don't think they're ever be in my top five Japanese bands, but they're a good band. Maybe I just need more exposure to them.

I don't know that much about BanG Dream and the bands in there myself, but my sister is quite a big fan of the series and the rhythm game and of the band Roselia which also belongs to the series. I believe she isn't the biggest fan of all the bands though (Raise A Suilen being one of them). From what I have heard most of them are basically voice actresses for the games and anime who can also play instruments (they do a good job from what I have seen) and they created real bands from the virtual bands that are in those anime and in the rhythm game (I actually don't know which type of media came first). I believe that some of the bands are still pure virtual, but Raise A Suilen and Roselia certainly are real bands nowadays. I am not sure about Morfonica, but they are as well from what I can see as is Poppin'Party but I only know them by name. All the songs and bands are created for the Rhythm game and Anime from what I know. Also, BanG Dream is a huge series and is extremely popular. Some of the shots I have seen show extremely big fields full with with people in front of a stage. I am ok with Raise a Suilen and they do remind me somewhat of Gacharic Spin, but I like GS more than this. Raise a Suilen is even more electronic sounding to me for some reason and that's just the sound that is a little less for me personally. Not bad though. Edit: I have searched for some of the media in the past for holiday gifts for my sister, but it is still extremely confusing to me to the point that I gave up. Some of those Blu-ray box sets are also very expensive and I don't know what she actually likes the most apart from Roselia stuff. There is a lot of BanG Dream stuff that releases every year.

I think you misunderstood 1 thing: it's not that they made this song for an anime.... This Band was made as the real counterpart of a band that exists in the anime! And they play live the same songs that the virtual band plays in the anime :D They are fun, and their other songs have similar energy :D If you want another band from the same Anime/Videogame franchise, there is also Roselia :) But I prefer Raise a Suilen! They are just so much FUN!!!

Interesting is the right word. Not just musically, but the whole way they are integrated into anime with several bands, only some of which exist in the real world. It's a multi-media marketing dream - every avenue of popular culture is open for them to exploit. The comparison with Gacharic Spin is more accurate than you think, you just haven't seen the GS tracks with more EDM elements in them - try the original versions of Juicy Beats or Next Stage. I don't know enough RaS material to recommend something else by them, but the bits I've heard have all sounded similar to this, so I wonder if they may be a little limited in scope? Japan has some other interesting multi-media artists that I'm sure you'll get to at some point. There's the whole vocaloid thing - sampled vocals, reconstructed to synthesise completely new songs. Some vocaloids can tour the world, appearing 'live' on stage in holographic form, with real musicians backing them. Imagine that - an artist that isn't moody, doesn't get sick, never ages, always performs perfectly and has an infinite number of new styles at the whim of a graphic artist. Hatsune Miku is the big name. Then you have groups like Perfume, the 'old' (mid-30s) ladies of idol, who put on visually spectacular arena shows and ultra-high tech theatre shows. They dabble in advanced computer graphics, robotics, laser guns and virtual / augmented reality. They even make interesting EDM. There's some really mind blowing stuff out there.

I had no idea before I started reading comments, about ALL the different integrations this band consists of. That is like so friggin amazing and definitely interesting! Thanks!
