I feel like the Mother should've been charged with Emotional Abuse, because OP has stated how her Sister have said that she'll abandon the Kids, if they'd misbehave. And not to mention that OP's Sister can still be charged with Emotional Distress (given if the Kids still react with a mistake they've done, and the Mother would reprimand them for doing something, which in some cases can be PTSD).

She let me be a little nerd. I really love her with all my heart. My sister was my opposite. Extroverted, loud, phone - addicted, and wanted everything she saw in the stores we went to. I was always the skinny one, a picky eater. She had binge eating disorder. When Mom was still working in the restaurant, She would force me to microwave her something she could do herself. She hated it when I made friends. When I was 8, I finally had a medium - sized friend group. She would agree with the kids at our school who bullied us. When I was 16, I mustered up the courage to tell our mom about it. She told our sister to move out, get a job, and stop hurting a minor. Now she looks, acts, and lives like a Karen. Thank god for karma.

There's many stories like this one on reddit. One where IIRC OOP ends up parentified by her parents and she end up sacrificing her future to make sure her siblings can go to college and succeed. They end up in good places and they sit her down and tell her they don't want her to work anymore and they want to make sure she's taken care of. Another one where OP gets dumped at her aunt house even though her aunt has like 4 kids. Her aunt provides the best she can and her and her cousins end up paying for a house for the aunt. First this just didnt happen. Second the sister did not abandon them, she provided for them their entire childhoods and they left of their own accord at the age of 18. Absolutely ridiculous to claim abandonment and that she wasn't their mother in any way shape or form. Third how tf was oop supposed to get custody? There is no villainry here it was never gonna happen. Fourth why is oop getting blasted for the money? That's ridiculous. The kids would be the ones in 'trouble'. Sort of TA... it sucks when parents aren't the way we want them to be, BUT she could've given them up for adoption after the dad went MIA, knowing that she was at level -1 with no degrees or experience of any type. Why didn’t she? Why did she choose to raise those babies time and time again after claiming that they were the ones ruining her life? Why stay until they got 18? It's true that she sounds like a shitty parent, but she stayed unlike their dad. And there have GOT to be SOME moments where she was an okay parent. I mean they all did well enough in school to go on to become doctors, educators and a businesswoman. You mean to tell me the aunt did ALL that by herself and the mom had NO part in their schooling and education? Never packed them a lunch? Never made them a breakfast? She gave them life also, so theres that. It's always easy to make a struggling woman a villain ESPECIALLY our mothers. I think they're our very first villain in life when things don't go our way. But you should remember, before she is a mother, she's just a human being with her own feelings and problems and emotions. And she did still dedicate her time to their lives in a time period where you as the aunt got to come and go as you pleased. So of course you're the "fun" one. I think for her work in getting them to adulthood intelligent, safely, and alive and healthy you should give her half. But after that whatever happens is up to her and her kids, stay out of THAT mess.

It's called emotional abuse. You could feed and clothe your kids and even pay for their college, but if you do it while complaining about how miserable they make your life every day and then immediately cut contact and never speak to them again once they're adults, you don't get to call yourself a good parent. There is a very good chance she only treated them with the bare minimum so she could continue getting the child support, and also the OP and her parents frequently visited to check up on the children to make sure they weren't being abused. That could've been the only reason why she didn't resort to actual physical abuse or neglect. Because she was being watched. Don't make excuses for this.
