Johnny was a super talented Singer and songwriter. Such a tragedy when we lost him in 1964.

I had the pleasure of working with both Rocky and Billy at my friend Paul's home studio in LA in around 1986 or 1987. Haven't been in touch with either of them for a long, long time. This is so great to see. Thanks, Sally.

Saw Billy with Fleetwood Mac and a solo show in DC. I can't remember the album he was out supporting...but I remember he put on a good show....with a new guitar he bought earlier that day. Hope this reunion helped the family find peace ✌❤🍏

This film is truly great. When I was a kid I spent some time with the Burnett's, billy, rocky and the other kids. My Dad, bassist Joe Osborn, was close friends with Dorsey and they, with their wives Alberta and Gwen, would play cards and the kids did kid stuff. Dorsey and Dad wrote songs together sitting at the kitchen table till late in the night. Dorsey worked with Dad on building the garage studio and they worked there instead of the kitchen. That garage studio is the same one where a young Karen Carpenter first found her voice. This film brought many good memories to me. Thank you.

Great story, Johnny was so talented, singing and song writing. A part of a great family of musicians. It is such a shame that he died so young in a boating accident in 1964. so many more songs he could have recorded for all of his many fans.

I wonder if we ever met. I hung out at their home when I was a teen. They were so kind to me. They had a boxer dog who was very friendly.

I had always wondered what happened to Rocky Burnette. This video shed a lot of light, not just on Rocky, but the whole Burnette family.

Thank you for this great doc. The first Rockabilly song I ever heard was Lonemsome Train in 1983 . Still the best Rockabilly record ever. Happy to have seen Billy Burnette playing with John Fogerty in Amsterdam.

Watching with much interest..I think the rock & roll trio are unsurpassed in the genre. The quality of Johnny and Dorsey's songwriting fascinates me, it's an ongoing road of discovery- Dorsey's solo rockers are fantastic❤ Thanks for posting this great film.

Rocky was a good friend of mine when i was in my late teens. I loved hanging out at the Pal and at the home of Dorsey and Alberta Burnette and family. Rocky had the purest tone to his voice. The Rockman was his nickname way back then, too

Rocky mentions that when his dad, Johnny Burnette, drowned, was"the day the music died" for his family. Understandable. As a strange coinsidence, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper died in Clear Lake, Ohio Febr. 3. 1959 ("The day the music died") Johnny Burnette died in Clear Lake, Calif. .......... Billy Burnette mentions 32.56f that the guy, who drove the car that killed James Dean 1955 also was the man who steered the boat that killed Johnny Burnette. The man who accidently killed James Dean was Donald Turnupseed. The guy who steered the boat was Leo Mattioda (acc to newspaper clip earlier in this film 11.49). How does that add up?

Mick Fleetwood, The Burnettes were not an INFLUENCE on Elvis, they were friends/buddys from the housing section of Lauderdale Courts in Memphis. In fact guitarist paul Burlison worked with elvis at crown Electric. Man those BRITS cant get anything right. Yeah i know Billy Burnette played with Fleetwood, in a crappy version of Fleetwood Mac

I mean, the Burnettes definitely had some influence on Elvis. They were slightly older boys doing what he wanted to do in a style similar to what he became famous for. How much of an influence might be debatable but it definitely wasn't nothing.

@@kingswing00 all those cats, Johnny and Dorsey, Elvis, Carl all loved rhythm and blues but they were country boys and it came sounding like it did. The first night Elvis was on ed Sullivan the Burnettes were on ted macks Amateur hour. O f course presley had already been on the Dorsey shows on tv and the Louisianna hayride by early 56. I like to think they were friendly competitors but presley had stronger manangement with Judd Phillips and then Tom Parker. The burnette sides on Coral were as good as elvis's sun material

they hardly mention Paul Burleson. they talk more about his amp than his great guitar playing. also didn't Billy play with Bobby and the Midnighters ? Sally you shouldn't have sold your soul. I'm sure you went through hell to do this.
@HarryLags23 күн бұрын
Johnny and Dorsey Burnette were great but I don't think they had an influence on Elvis Presley. Presley was an influence on every one else And that's why he remains the King.
