Beautiful Chickens. Please what scale do you use for your stocking density?
@Meatchickens3 жыл бұрын
I have got electronic scales in all my barns. Birds step on it regularly and their weights are recorded on the computer and the computer displays the averages daily. I also, have a small hand-electronic scale used to cross check.
@Dumeme5103 жыл бұрын
I got similar results from my research. The only thing I will suggest to you is to be aggressive with Coccidiosis treatment for Cobb. You have to start treating Coccidiosis from as early as day 4 for Cobb. Don't wait got symptoms. That's the only way to reduce their mortality.
@Meatchickens3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I had a great 2nd study batch with my 35000 COBB and 35000 ROSS. They were more than 3Kg and I lost approximately 500 in every barn. I used a more integrated approach and was able to correct most of the issues with my 17000 COBB trial.

Please how many times do you change your wood shavens in 6weeks
@Meatchickens2 жыл бұрын
After every batch(6weeks) I change the wood shavings before placing new chicks.
@savioursunday92402 жыл бұрын
Wow!!!!!!!! How do you do it ?.. Wow! So from day 0 till day 42, you use the same wood shavings... Won't it get contaminated or how do you control the ammonia building up... ? I am wowed!
@Meatchickens2 жыл бұрын
The ventilation system takes care of the ammonia, I also ensure that there's relatively moderate humidity within the barns.
@savioursunday92402 жыл бұрын
Wow... So if there is good ventilation. It can manage the woodshaven for that long... Wow thank you sir for this wisdom

@Meatchickens3 жыл бұрын
From PTINEK Ltd. Unfortunately, they only schedule chicks supply programs with large farms that raise chickens all year round. So, after every two months, they know my farm needs 70000. So, they stock the incubators to match that order. Usually, it's best for a small farmer to finder a reputable supplier in his/her local area to reduce importation cost. Under good management, there should be no major difference.

In as much as I would have loved to share all information, the fraudulent use of the Internet has made sharing sensitive info problematic. Aside the fact that there're a lot of data protection laws these days, I wouldn't want any sad stories associated with me. Beside being cautious ⚠️ I always advice that farmers find a local dealer(marketers or importers)in their areas. That way you see who you are doing business with. On the other hand, if a farmer is big enough and ready to expand, they can travel themselves, purchase their equipment, and arrange them for shipment.

@pst.adeotunadeyemi43122 жыл бұрын
I raise Cobb, your mortality is high because your pen is overstocked. The mortality you experienced is primarily stampeding. They get weighty easily, when they fall on their backs, they need to be turned over by a staff. With the high population they get stampeded before they receive help. Also sorting at hatchery, check to ensure that their navel is healed. You'll lose a lot of birds in the first 3days if sorting is not properly done for Cobb 500. Unhealed navel will burst open in 3days leading to high mortality. If you have 500unhealed navel from the hatchery. I guarantee you. The 500 will all die in 3-4days
