Very interesting discussion, ladies, thanks. We formed a blended family, and we have been married for 22 years. He came with three girls, and I, two girls. The girls' mum died; the boys' dad walked out. Initially, adjusting had its challenges, but from the outset, we decided on basic principles of parenting together. We each had the responsibility of raising/disciplining them as our own children. The children are now old and (some) married, and see themselves as real brothers and sisters.

@@bumploveug but we need another episode on blended family. These kids from outside are for the man and they need to belong, so at what age should they be introduced to the family for the rest of their siblings to know them. Some come as a result of their father's mistakes telling lies to their moms so I don't think children should suffer bse of their parents mistakes. They need to belong. Kindly think through and plan for us an episode with gents involved if possible. Otherwise thank you so much for the show. I felt it could continue. I really enjoyed and learnt

@faridahfaddy69943 жыл бұрын
It depends how those older children have been raised. Some of them (tebagambwako) and that only can raise problems in your marriage. As for me, I would rather have a 1yr old. I raise that 1yr and install in her/ him the good manners and behaviors I want her/ him to have. But it’s very hard to know how difficult that situation would be until when you are in it. Have been there. Will never do it again tho.

My story of step family(ahuh you ladies have given it a fly name "blended") anyway it was 4wives with 1 man(Papa) and I found myself staying with mum while Dad asked for us during holidays to join the children of his other lady,for me that was war,I real detested staying with my father all I wanted was mum. So I wasn't okay having another lady mothering me and yet she wasn't harmful in anyway,I just felt safe with mum and wen I grew up and had conversations with mum,it's something that always broke her heart, knowing that we were away from her with someone that wasn't our mum.But we all grown everyone on his/her own but am sure it's not easy

This was an interesting conversation. I grew up in a 'blended family' and it was bits and pieces of what you talked about but I think the bigger percentage of African families are 'blended'. Fast forward I get married (young) and my husband has a child from a previous marriage. He lived with his mother but came to ours every other weekend. And like you have talked about, my house my rules, period! Thinking back (he is a grown boy now and we have a FANTASTIC relationship), I don't think it would work well if he fully lived with us. I was not and don't know if I am ready to be a full time step mum.

The packing and leaving your home bit got me laughing coz i remembered a lady i used to interract with who told me she packed her bags and some household stuff in a small lorry and left her house. On arrival home her elderly mom refused to let her unpack her stuff. She was told to spend the night and go back to her house the next day. The lorry had to stay overnight. She was 60 years old 😂😂
