If you're interested in force-on-force style TvTs, you could look into joining one of Arma Finland's bi-monthly PvP missions with a KOG squad. I've played a handful with several different units and its generally really good. Usually they get about 120 players, company vs company level engagements. Pretty good attitudes from attendees as well, very much a "wargaming" vibe rather than ultra competetive.

Loved that game. Honestly the last push that KOG did on our second Cache was probably the most hellish part of that operation for OPFOR. Trying to get those who had died back to the front lines from a respawn point roughly 2 - 4 Km away was a nightmare. But it really put it into consideration about playing it safe, and considering so many different angles of attack. GG bois.

Great video. 2 things. 1. Who says Aferm on the radio. I've never heard that in combat. Lol it was just roger over or roger out. 2. when your monitoring your troops overhead the bird stays with those troops and helps them avoid patrols or identifies, marks, and / or destroys opfor closest to the friendlies. The bird never leaves his troops to scout anything else. That's why you have more than one. Other than that great job. I need to get this game so I can play

An idea for another scenario (although I don't know how feasible it would be): CQC inside a highrise or a bunker compound. 2-3 teams would be deployed against the enemy, which would be spread across dozens of rooms and corridors of various sizes, potential tripwires in dead-ends, etc. and the objective is to gather a specific intel in an unknown room (far from starting points, its approximate location could be known from the get go) and gtfo. Alarms could be triggered and more enemies could come (players ready to join)

Karma, you probably won’t see this, but would you consider conventional forces vs. conventional forces? Maybe to balance, only give certain command elements like SLs and commanders blueforce trackers? Or a late Cold War fight like 90s or 80s where you have to strictly use maps to navigate without gps? I think it would be a little more fun for the players since, from personal experience, playing as a non conventional op for can sometimes be frustrating.
@richpryor96502 жыл бұрын
Some critiques, firstly, whenever SOF does operations like this they always have another squad or two doing over watch from a nearby hill. It would've most likely prevented your huge clump of guys from getting RPG'd.
@TheRejected7312 жыл бұрын
Scared OPFOR engaging one another and recon by fire are two things you wouldn't ever get out of the AI, so this is beautiful to me. Then there are elements like the ability to hear a pair of helos nearby and know that likely means infantry being inserted, to register a potential mass cas as an opportunity to assault, and the ever-present "this is how I would attack me" thinking that leads to situations the AI could only make happen by accident. Really the only drawback to human OPFOR is that, in the timeline of an op, they always know an attack is coming.

@Karmakut these JTACs are killing it. Heard plenty of JTACs in my time and these guys are 100% on par with ability to spit out those 9-lines and routing instructions. Of course, they're sitting in a computer chair with minimal external stressors, but even with that, what they're doing is insanely difficult if you're not professionally trained and requires a heck of a lot of effort in a dynamically changing situation. Good on you man, hope these dudes are the real deal and are getting some legit training out of this. I'd love to see this kind of thing implemented in training I'm used to. Edit: one thing they do miss pretty consistently is giving a timeline with type-3. I heard plenty of "cleared to engage," but in the 9-line, the engagement has to be given a window, called an engagement window, from x-y, usually from CAS TOT to Plus 5 or whatever.
@edgymememaker26022 жыл бұрын
Wym there’s barely any actual 9-lines being said, for the most part they’re going straight from gameplan to correlation, maybe sat for the Air Force, idk Marine corps jtacs do things a bit different and we do things more doctrinal 🤷♂️
@marcusaurelius55602 жыл бұрын
@@edgymememaker2602 I thought I heard a few gameplan/9-lines given. They may have skipped a few things, but for civilians, that's pretty dang good. I used to train young 0861s CAS employment as a JFO/non-JTAC, and these boys are doing it way better then some of those cats did haha. I'm no JTAC, but from the many I've worked with, I'm saying this ain't too shabby, all things considered.

idk if there's a mod for this as I don't play Arma 3, but could add some sort of Compass mechanic on NVGs that's hardcoded/zeroed to True-North at 0 degrees for call-outs kinda like they've done with Apex & COD:Warzone. In real life we use wrist compasses on the non-trigger hand and go off that for calling out enemy positions as well as regular land-nav. Probably would work on / go over some way to get regular patrol formations taught & normalized especially for ground-based combatants in heavy fire zones. Also, just work on Radio comms / standard op procedures all round for radios. This was pretty solid tho. Idk what loadouts Arma has, but it looked like you had an IFAK, Flak+Sappies, and Kevlar type equipment nonetheless. Get some archangel support to breakdown long/lat grid boxes & someone to go over CCP setup, also communicating suppressing fire at X degrees, and perhaps some sort of drag mechanic for downed characters. I'd list more but I'm half asleep, looks good tho.
