@@bigguy3900 Mate, I'm a massive Raiden fan since mk2 and totally feel you. NRS shit on Raiden so bad and make him weak. I wouldn't say he has no mixups though. His b1,2 is reasonable but is unsafe ( just wait till ppl figure they can flawless block the 2) and can't really be a go to but more of a baiter, whiff punish type move. If I had the power to make changes I'd certainly make his frames better and his lightning deffo needs way faster startup. For a so called God it's a joke. Most projectiles will eat it before it even comes out. His storm cell needs to be 3 x mid and his teleport should only take up one slot. Added to that his KB requirements are naff and unlike most of the cast, I don't think our boi has one single plus frame to make him a threat. I had very high hopes for the Thunder God and expected a much more menacing playstyle not a defensive based turtle designed to annoy the opponent or catch them pressing buttons. I didn't want rushdown no, but something needs to change. We can only hope he gets buffs in the future. For now I'd say he's mid to low tier at best.

While I made peace with Raiden and play with him very frequently, specially after an outstanding buff in my AI Battle, they butchered Raiden so bad in this game. They made him a zoner, but instead of doing what they did with Cetrion - giving lots of options - they gave him very poor and weak moves. Basically energy cell and teleport are useful, the rest is not that special. I had hopes that Dark Raiden could play an offensive style (specially because the character is all about attack first, as questions never), way worse than MKX, but they stepped back, and that's a shame. I'm a MKX Thunder God Raiden player, and I miss that style so much, even if I'm still playing Raiden. He needs a buff immediately.

Honestly, with his current toolkit I can't really see him as a zoner. His bolts are just subpar, and even if AA lightning didn't conflict with Storm Cell, there is very little Raiden can do to force his opponent to jump. On the other hand, rushdown Raiden was kinda MKX thing and that's it, but then almost everyone was playing that game in MKX. I can get behind the idea of Raiden being Slayer-ish footsies character, something I feel he always wanted to be aside from MKX, but there are characters that can do basically the same while having seemingly better offense, for example. Another bad part is that all that stuff just doesn't work without Storm Cell to get an actual damage off hits you fish for, and teleport to avoid being either chased down and crushed in close combat, what's with Raiden being negative on everything, or zoned out, what's with no other radical ways to get through. Nice to see people like Goonie showcasing what you can do with those moves. Well, It's not like I think that Thunder Wave is "un-Raiden-ish" or something, but some variety would be nice to have. ...then again, his other extra moves are underwhelming enough to make bloody Rolling Thunder look interesting by comparison. Overcharge (or whatever that is called) is somewhat interesting by itself though. Too bad Raijin gets absolute garbage for other 2 moves.

Guys, I play Raiden. He has mixups, he just needs better krushing blows. His mix is B1,4 overhead but you have to put on *Electric Current* to make it a low 50/50 cancel from B1. It now becomes a conditioning tool but don't forget his B3 low starter is useful too as well as sometimes whiffing F1,1 for a tech to get the low konfirm as well as we all know F1 anti air. NOW, his real problem is his krushing blows. 1,2,1 as a punish condition is fine but trash because of the knockback animation. You can't combo off of that or the B2 double overhead chops that not only REQUIRE TWICE IN A ROW (Absolute Trash requirement) but it's a hard knock down as well so no combo after. This is why people are complaining about his 36% no mix up game. You need *Electric Current* AT ALL TIMES for the B1 50/50 and he has no BIG DAMAGE outside what? 36% or Fatal? All because of trash krushing blows that don't combo. He litterally requires skill and patience in long sets because if you fail a konfirm due to low damage and trash krushes, easier more accessible characters will send you back to the Elder Gods for Consultation. Take it from a die hard Kabal/Raiden Main. It's a fucking struggle playing Raiden with straight FGC Fundamentals and nothing else. Fax. *05-19-19 Last patch I think they low key stealth buff Raiden's B2 overhead krushing blow to now launch into a combo off the ground* Some one over at NRS is watching the comments and fixed what I stated about his krushing blows.

What's the general opinion most hold when it comes to buffs and nerfs? It seems with most fighting games, the remedy is this: "Nerf the strong, buff the weak." Recently, I have heard some suggestions to simply buff the weak and apply no nerfs to the strong. What kind of scenario does that create when everyone is strong? I'd definitely like to see some more diversity in MK11, seeing the same top tier characters makes this game lose it's luster, especially from the point of a spectator. I just want some opinions, I'm not looking for a definitive answer here.

Geras is cheap, boring and takes no skill. Erron Black is just really solid and his moves really complement each other. Geras needs a debuff. Everyone else needs a buff up closer to Erron Black. But its hard because some of the characters problems lay in the movesets, variations or core design. But yea the general consensus is "buff the weak, nerf the strong" with buff everyone a close second.
