I miss seeing the old meta, the diversity of viable teams instead of game breaker vs game breaker was so much fun especially because I enjoyed seeing the different teams displaying what makes them beat others but also the weaknesses of them which is why you wanted to try even more teams and strategies. It’s a shame

Since janemba I’d say they definitely helped the meta look closer to that diverse state but sadly that meta can never truly come back. Not so long as characters can do infinite combos and 3 card a neutral unit into red health.

It is impressive how the game has evolved over the years (i started playing when ul kaioken dropped for the first time, but i watched vidoes after starting to see how the game went). Its is crazy to think about the units, metas, and teams you would be facing each year. Lets not forget powercreep over the years and when beast and uvb came out and destroyed the metas at the time and were must have to at least compete in ranked pvp.

@@fancybow7912 just his zenkai was enough to dominate the meta, before getting stopped by vb. Crazy to think at that time, there wasnt really too much cover null, card destruction / ki / db protection and some units could dominate with not too much stuff

⁠@@lr674 red gohan zenkaied like 3 months after vb came out, the crazy thing is he was great until ultra super gogeta, his green card and lock in hurt him too much. But yes to think a unit with cancellable buffs and no card draw speed ruled the game for a year is nuts nowadays

The game has changed a lot from back then. Back then there were no Zenkais and teams were so simple. Now characters are getting juiced up and people have stacked teams.

Ah, better times. Times where damage wasn't out of this world and you had to work to kill your opponent. A time where almost every match was a toss up. A time where it wasn't practically mandatory to bring an Ultra or LF unit to win, and you could actually use normal sparkings. Now, it's game breaker unit vs game breaker unit and seeing who one shot deletes the other faster. 😓
