The point you raised regarding Raja Rammohan Roy's cremation is utter nonsense. I mean, don't you even research a bit before you form your opinions? The first such furnace meant for human cremation in Britain was built almost half a century after Raja Rammohan Roy's death. Initially, he was buried in the private garden of his friend Lant Carpenter. Later, his corpse was shifted to a fancy elite cremation ground Arnos Vale Cemetery. His close friend Dwarakanath Tagore had a Samadhi Temple according to Hindu traditions built out there in the place so that Raja Rammohan Roy's corpse could be properly preserved. In fact, Arnos Vale didn't even exist when Raja Rammohan Roy passed away. He remained buried in Lant Carpenter's garden for a few years before Dwarakath Tagore arrived in England. Henceforth, be careful to do proper research before passing judgments.

Raja Rammohan Roy was actually buried in a garden or a backyard belonging to one of his closest friend in Britain. First, one has to understand how British, rather English colonial mind operated, even those traits exist now. So being a minister of Mughals at that point in history is not a big crime, given that there were only paper rulers. King support is many times strategic, neither is Jayajirao Shinde claimed a unique, outstanding individual who is indispensible in modern India's history for +ve reasons.

I personally don't think that the best way to evaluate a historical personality through the eyes of contemporary eminent figures. If such is the case - then are we to say that Mohandas Gandhi is really a saint ("mahatma") as his contemporaries believed him to be ? Seriously? This whole video was a giant waste of time - Mr. Sreejit either intentionally forgets to mention the correspondence Raja had with the higher officers in East India Company - or maybe Mr. Sreejit is not even aware of those documents. I don't know which one is worse. I sense that RRR was severely scarred by his own experiences in his own home (the exploitations and the prejudiced socio-familial structure the women of his childhood (namely, his mother, his aunts, his grand parent) went through. As a consequence of these his hatred for anything orthodox and dogmatic grew even sourer - and at the end he vilified the entire religion for that ! This resembles somewhat with the case of Dr. BR Ambedkar - his personal experiences with "untouchability" during his childhood - contorted his perception about the religion / Hindu community as a whole - which we can see in his latter works. This video seems to have also forgotten to mention the strife between RNTagore and RRR regarding their personal stance on the Hindu community/religion as whole - i.e. to speak ill of all the practices due to actions of some scrupulous scoundrels within the Hindu societies - who used the religion for their personal gain. Tagore took a vehement stand against RRR in this aspect. Clearly, Mr. Sreejit needs to do more research.

In one event, Sri Ramakrishna refuses to condemn Rammohan Roy when his disciples criticized Rammohan for getting his young daughter married to Maharaja of Cooch Bihar !! Sri Ramana Maharishi, when talking about social reformers said the following: " Individual reformation is needed ; it is not possibleto have equal health, prosperity, and other qualities in a society; what all these reformers like Arya Samaj , Brahma Samaj have achieved except to divide people further??" .He meant, uniformity cannot be possible but unity can be. Edit: I have found all these reformers being far from perfect. Take Periyar in Tamil Nadu: He got married to his own adopted daughter( a despicable behaviour) which provoked C N Annadurai to break away and start DMK. Rajiv Malhotra was wrong. Missionaries were in India in large numbers. They did not require any assistants from Ram Mohan Roy. Rabindranath Tagore, Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo supported Rammohan Roy. Rabindranath said, Raja had rescued the great Hindu religion from the restrictions of the cremation grounds.
