This was a flop film. It is believed that Manoj Kumar played a major part in making this movie a flop movie . His movie "Shor" (1972) was to be released in "Apsara" theatre in Mumbai but after "Mere Jeevan Saathi" in d same theatre. He influenced d distributer and also d owner of d theatre to release Shor before "Mere Jeevan Saathi". But after one week or so they released "Mere Jeevan Saathi" as both of them wanted to encash on d immense popularity of Rajesh Khanna. This irked Manoj Kumar and he reportedly bought major chunk of d tickets of all d shows of 1st week of Mere Jeevan Saathi and sold them, through his hired men, even at below par value just to spread that d film was a miserable flop. Once d lable of flop was tagged it went like a fire in d jungle.

It's no need to tell all the story of the film , it was flopped in the Mumbai Circuit and Rajesh Khanna's phenomenal dream run got abrupted unfortunately, Kaka had so many hopes from the film but due to weak screen play and poor direction it was a Flop, only plus point was Panchamda's fantastic music...
