Why do u need to soak it overnight? I have been eating it 4 times a week for years now. Boil 2 cups water add 1 cup Amaranth & cook on low for 20-25 mins. I get it going for breakfast & then do my yoga. Perfect breakfast with berries & maple syrup! It's pretty expensive here in California & only selected stores carry it. Thanks for sharing:)

Allow me to chip in. Amaranth has phytic acid which stops ur body from absorbing nutrients. Soaking it neutralizes the acid and makes the nutrients easier to digest:)
@sharmilaghosh1697 Жыл бұрын
@@aditin1770 Thanks! I'm a Nutritionist practicing in NY. Ur right abut the phytic acid & the need to soak, but it doesn't require more than a 10 min soak like Quinoa, no need for overnight soaking. Thanks for ur insight though, I appreciate it:)

What should be the ratio of water and soaked amaranth for cooking in cooker
@samuelmuldoon4839 Жыл бұрын
I reccomend that you use lots of water 💦 . I reccomend that you not measure the water. After you put the amarathe in a metal pot, you add water untill there are at least 2 or 3 inches of water covering the top surface of the amaeanthe. You can use a fine mesh steel sieve to strain off the extra water after the amaranthe is done cooking. Just boil the grain with too much water and strain off the excess. Pretend that the amaranthe is spagetti or pasta, if nessesary.

Do you use the pressure cooker to make the amaranth tender and soft? There is another way. I personally reccomend that you put the amanthus in a bowl (🥣 ) of water (💦 ) before going to bed (🛏). If amaranthe soaks in water overnight before you cook it, then the amaranthe becomes more tender and soft.

No nessesito un pressure cooker. You do not need a pressure cooker. You can boil the amaranth in a pot which has no lid. You can boil the amaranth in water with no lid. NO pressure. The old pots were named "cobre" which means "copper" like the metal magenta. The pink metal. Copper turns orange after the metal reacts with oxygen gas from the atmosphere. Pink copper turns orange when it begins rusting. After that, the orange copper turns blue or green.

I just learned that cooking oatmeal kills all the good stuff, including vitamins, in it, so we should only pour water over it and let it soak that up, instead of cooking the oatmeal to make the traditional breakfast. Does cooking the amaranth also kill all the good things God put into it?
