The star of films like #Andhadhun, #Haider and #Maqbool, the two-time National Award winner explains why she tends to gravitate towards complex women characters and how she gets into their heads. Oh no! He wouldn't know what to do with her. He's a control freak and we'd end up with long shots of the palace and dresses and jewellery n one of the younger actresses in over the top camera close ups. Tabu's strength lies in subtlety, immense internal work and authenticity. Bhansali expects his actors to give over the top performances. He shortchanged Madhuri in Devdas, Priyanka in Bajirao Mastani. Can't expect him to do Tabu any justice. He's a cinematographer and a music composer. He's not a director in the sense that an Anubhav Sinha or Sujoy Ghosh or Sriram Raghavan etc are. He's like Kamaal Amrohi minus subtlety.
