उत्तर प्रदेश के नोएडा में रमेश गैरा ने केसर की खेती करने की शुरुआत की. रमेश ने यह खेती दक्षिण कोरिया में सीखी. उनका कहना है भारत में कहीं भी केसर की खेती की जा सकती है बस कश्मीर जैसा आर्टिफिशियल वातावरण तैयार करने की जरूरत है. रमेश ने 10 बाई 10 के कमरे में उगाया है केसर और एक किलो केसर की कीमत उन्हें साढ़े तीन लाख रूपए मिली है. भारतीय केसर की यूरोप, अमेरिका और अरब में भारी मांग है.

भाई साहब पिछले 8-10 साल से मेरे पास भी केसर का बीज है वैसा ही है लेकिन उसमें खुशबू नहीं है क्योंकि मैं उसको खुले में ही रखता हूं मेरे यहां टेंपरेचर-2 से 50 डिग्री तक रहता है। इसके फूल सफेद होते है मै ने बहुत लोगो को दिखा या सभी केश र ही बताते है

I read on Quora that 1,50,000 flowers are needed to produce 1 kg of kesar. If that is the case, and every bulb produces one flower, then that means one would need 1,50,000 x 15 g (as an average bulb weighs 15 g) or 2,250 kg of bulbs to produce one kg of kesar. In the video it is mentioned only 200 kg of bulbs produce 1 kg of kesar. How is that so?
