Yeah, I would say that at the very least, you want a mix of steal effects and discard mainboard to hedge your bets, and you can specialize in sideboard.

In Pioneer this deck isn't going to be fast enough to be a proper aggro deck, so I think that you'll want to go a bit higher up on the curve and be more of an aggressive midrange deck. So you probably cut the 1-drops and replace them with as much disruption as you can get.

@@MTGGoldfish Don't worry. In Match 3, Game 3 the opponent blocking wouldn't have helped because you had heartfire in hand. In Match 4, Game 1 even if the opponent chump blocked with both creatures you still had lethal. Menace was never relevant. Cheap creatures, card draw, discard and burn were what mattered.

Yeah, the meta right now is mostly ramp (which is pretty controlling) and Wilder Rec (also controlling). Not a whole lot of aggro (except for our Menace deck!)

Tbh when it comes to mtga when a deck is half rares its not really budget as from my experience Ive always had more mythic wildcards than rares and uncommons.

@@ryan_s Yeah I guess budget restrictions are probably why. I'd like to see a fully optimized version of this deck. Possibly with Embercleaves, maybe a couple Kroxa or Judith as Boardwipe insurance. I kept thinking while watching, man there goes 4 more creature to the yard, maybe if he had Kroxa to bring back and use as a finisher it'd help. Then I thought, why not run Judith? Give all the creatures +1/0 to push in more damage and when the enevitable board wipes come you're still smacking them in the face for 3 or more.

So I actually play this deck regularly. I've found that Malkin really doesnt do much and knight of the ebon legion works much better. I'm also not super high on the hunted nightmare. I've been trying judith, mayhem devil and woe strider as potential options. They make the sacrifice aspect much stronger, although I admit it detracts from the menace theme.

Do you still play the menace payoffs? I do agree that those cards are stronger in a vacuum, but I sort of feel like if you're going to play Mayhem Devil and Woe Strider you should probably just cut the menace stuff and play a RB Sacrfifice deck.

@@MTGGoldfish So I do still play 4 of labyrinth raptor, stormfist, sonorous, heartfire and both threatens. With all the control decks you can usually get around them with few menace creatures and pressure with the growing knights of EL. Paying 3 to sacrifice an opponent's creature against faster aggro decks felt too slow and I found that the free value of sniping an X/1 or sacrificing for free and scrying was more consistent. Judith as a pump and sweeper deterrence has been great but I only run 2 because as you saw dead cards can really be punishing. I agree it is not the optimal rakdos aggro deck but it catches a lot people off guard. Also my build isn't nearly as budget friendly haha

While still tuning it, more for fun than anything, I have been enjoying tooling around with a slight Jund version of this. Bristling Boar with menace becomes unblockable, either by Frillscale Mentor or Bloodcurdle. Grimdancer takes advantage of extra menace with deathtouch and lifelink. Call of the Death-Dweller provides a little recursion, with Dreadmalkin sometimes filling out a 2nd body coming back. Fun interactions, but it should be noted I mostly play for fun and not primarily to win.

You should add 3-4 Lurrus in the deck. Recursion on 1-2cmc creature can win you the game, especially the rare one.

(Around 1:30) Menace is often very frustrating, I find especially with slower more control type decks. Sure menace mechanic will have its bad match ups but against some (more casual or budget) decks I find it to be quite strong (probably even in standard).

Dump the Trumpeter and a couple of the spells, add some Dreadhorde Butcher and Call of the Death Dweller. Butcher isn’t technically Menacing, but it can be.

You tend to skip extra games against sameish mono red deck when you've played like 3 games against it. Have you considered skipping games against the sameish control lists? It makes for a very monotone video, at least to me, when it's the same dominating list 3 games in a row. Other than that, loved the deck, shame we got no menace creatures in m21.

Played the Hunted Nightmare instead of using Tentative Connection on your own Stormfist Crusader to give it haste and attack for the win one turn earlier? It didn't matter in the end, but it could have mattered if they wrath (and you missed the same play with trumpeter the next turn).

It's normal to make fun about menace, de mechanic is bad the creatures were also terrible until now (except for the pirate with the monkey, this one whas fun to play, and the siphoner drawing extra cards with energy). In addition black had gone to several evasive mechanics and none had got much support: Fear first, a second y don't even remember , and now menace. I hope WOTC will made up his mind stabilizing this and giving us a true mechanic with payofs. Seems like rogues with menace start to be a supported tribe.
