Healing through medical play

From medical play sessions, Child Life Specialists can assess how a child is coping with illness and hospitalization. In the hospital play room, young patients decorate and personalize hand made dolls, and then use stethoscopes, insert IVs, draw blood, or simply play act any procedure they may have experienced in the hospital. Raising Arizona Kids talked to Cardon Children's Child Life Specialist Mindy Mesneak about the value of medical play and the role it plays in helping to heal young patients.
