Well, aside from the fact that the Hornet carries the typical 20mm Vulcan, I wouldn't call what the Hornet carries "lots of fuel". xD The Flanker has roughly double the internal fuel capacity and more than double the effective range/mission radius of the Hornet. Even with 3 fuel tanks, the Flanker still carries more than half a ton(metric) more fuel *internally.* ;)

Could argue that those manpads shouldn't have missed. There is an IR problem with F/A-18Cs at the moment where even the Su-27's IRST cannot pick it up despite rear aspect afterburning and mk1 eye ball tally, you have to be very close < 5km to track. Will get fixed tho.

From what I understand "Fox 2" and so on are names of different types of missiles. What I'm wondering though is why it's important to mention it? Is it so that you don't accidentally do something and get the missile on your teammate or something? (like heatseeking missiles)

Bjørnar Magnussen because IR missiles are very different from radar missiles not only do they require different countermeasures to be used but they have different ranges and speed

How are flares going to help you against radar guided missiles? Besides we knew we could dunk the SAM sites in the ground/water by maneuvering instead at that altitude. Chaff might help but it makes no difference for the situation. At the moment we bombed the airfield site, only Hell had to flare as the missile tracked him and not me. Then during the A-A engagement I used a ton of flares.
