Honestly, we need a "from zero to hero" in-game tutorial campaign. The current in-game tutorials are 'ok', but they cannot compare to these explanations. I don't think I've ever seen any startup sequence explained this well, and it's the same with most topics you teach. You're to the point, but still explains things well enough for it to make sense. The bullshit is filtered out, I understand *why* to push the buttons, and in which order, and it's not just a dead sequence of presses as with most other KZbin tutorials. Imagine if this series was a visual part/preparation of a proper, in-game campaign tutorial, intended to teach you how to use the A-10C II. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I mean, there's one thing to watch someone talk about and start-up an aircraft, and a completely different thing to actually do it yourself. While one can set up the video on a separate monitor and tab in/out, it would be incredible to have this visually in-game. The same with the takeoff-landing video, and most likely all of the other ones.

When the INS is aligning, the T count is the time and accuracy. So when it's done aligning, it was 4.0 minutes (the minutes are counted in tenths, hence the decimal), and it's accurate to within 0.8 meters (I believe). You can turn on the GCAS (RadAlt) before INS has completed. In the A-10C2 this switch is now on by default. The DSP button on the EW panel is the dispenser on the wing tips and gear pylons, not the display. Pitot Heat is essential for proper airspeed indication but also for altitude, specifically the VSI. When the pitot is frozen (high altitude low pressure), IAS and climb rate will be affected. Note that the Master Caution warning when starting up can be avoided if you leave the L/R AC GEN switches off until both engines have spooled. It beeps because there is a conflict in the AC bus (voltage from two sources), If you wait until both engines are running, you can flip the three switches in succession (L/R Gen on, Apu Gen off), then turn your APU off. Fun fact, pilots often leave the APU running in hot environments until after departure as the bleed air can be used to power the Air Conditioner.

@yieovgwqxaz79122 жыл бұрын
Is f18 easier???
@JD968932 жыл бұрын
@@yieovgwqxaz7912 no, because A10 doesn't have a radar. Doesn't really have air to air capabilities either, so that makes things much easier. The A10 also has fewer sub menus and stuff, which is a bonus and a disadvantage as well. At the end of the day just get whichever plane you want. I loved the A10 which is why I got it. F18 is more complicated, but it has so many more abilities and features over the A10. But the A10 for now is the Supreme A2G airframe in DCS. I got the F18 because I really wanted a multi role carrier fighter and liked it.

7:45 SAS or Stability Augmentation System changes transient response of the aircraft to control inputs in order to be easier to control, e.g. by increasing damping coefficients. Turn coordination is different functionality that yaw SAS does provide to an extent but it's not its primary function - it is meant to damp any disturbances in yaw, adverse yaw being one of them, but it's limited in authority so it might not be enough at high roll rates.

As of writing this comment, Cold-Start in the A-10C defaults you into a cockpit with the 'Fuel Display Sel'(ector) on 'WING' (for me at least) which confused the hell out of me as to why my fuel was seemingly evaporating two switches in... Setting it back to INT as you have it in this guide got me back on track to my problem which I'm still waiting for. This is complicated but your guides help IMMENSELY. actually I think you would arm your ejection seat once you're completely strapped into the seat. every aircraft I worked on, the pilot would "un-safe" their seat before cranking up the aircraft. it's something you don't want to forget, and a crew chief doesn't assist the pilot with the start up procedure until that is mutually confirmed as complete. 3:31

As someone who works on the A10 as a weapons loader, and is APU run certified, I can say the most unrealistic aspect is how smoothly the APU starts up. Those things are so overused and worn down that half of them take 30 seconds to actually spin up and shoot out big balls of flame. Other than having to flip a couple switches prior to APU start, it's very spot on.

I learned the EGI alignment -> Nav Mode -> EGI -> EAC arm over years and screwing up and maybe bits and pieces from certain videos. EGI alignment takes a while so because of that, my own A-10C startup (for speed) powers up the CDU+EGI as soon as the APU generator is on, right before I start up boost tanks (seems to not be needed anymore in current cold start DCS state) + right engine. CDU+EGI does not run off of battery power.

Side note : I don't know what your graphic settings are (reshade maybe?) or if it's post editing of the video, but I like the "pale but dark tint" (I don't know how to describe it better) you have - the pale green of the displays is awesome and the yellow is not orange / red. Ralfi, just as a point you do not NEED the APU Generator to run the turbine igniters. APU is only required to introduce air into the turbines. Motor starts, you can use the LEFT and RIGHT Motor/Igniter switches. Example: Left Motor start switch AFT, allow oil pressure to build to 20 PSI, introduce fuel (left engine to idle), left motor start to ignite position forward. Repeat for right motor.
